Cornelius Faust is a visitor from Cloud City to Rook. For reasons that don't need explored at this juncture, Cornelius plans to stay near Rook for the foreseeable future. He is a scholar and tutor who moonlights as an adventurer.
Description:
Cornelius is a dark skinned and horned tiefling.
Suited up for an adventure, he wears an armored version of black and white wizard robes, with a small pointed hat (with space for his horns). He juggles a quarterstaff and a journal, using his tail as a third arm to hold his staff while he jot down notes.
Alternatively, Mr Faust wears respectable scholarly robes as he tutors and teaches languages and magical theory. While teaching and striving to impress, he fakes a celestial accent but his normal speech has a slight infernal accent that comes out when he's excited or angry.
History:
The Faust family is a long established but minor noble family in Cloud City. The family has a bureaucracy bent. They typically have just enough brains to work as clerks or lawyers or just enough magical ability to hold teaching posts at magical academies, but usually lack the ambition to excel and move up the Cloud City hierarchy.
Cornelius was being groomed to work at the academy when an important board member insulted the Faust family as never achieving anything of note. Unable to think up a counter-example, Cornelius stammered and lost his temper. He tripped the board member and shoved him down some stairs. board member broke his leg and rallied the board against the Faust family and Cornelius in specific.
Cornelius was shuttled away from Cloud City and told to make his way on his own. In public the family line was that Cornelius needs a break from the city and that they had not idea what came over him. In private, Cornelius was given several chewing outs, pats on the back and orders to stay away from the academy until everyone forgets about it.
He came to Rook to tutor and found a city that is learning to respect adventurers. He splits his time between tutoring and learning practical skills (and ways to productively channel an anger that sometimes sways his thoughts). In order to blow off steam and earn extra coin, he has started gathering gear to join in dungeon crawls between jobs. He lacks much in the way of martial training, but is athletic and clever. How hard can it be?
