An enterprising halfing barkeep, Berno Boffin seeks out some adventurers to help seek the wreck of a ship he partially owns, the Drunken Skink. After posting bills in several places, including the Golden Plow, he is delighted when three noble adventurers (Tog, Oram and Drakovan) squeeze into his halfling bar and restaurant to take on the job, as well as tasting some of his wares. He tells them that the ship had run aground along the shoreline six hours to the north of the city. The crew report being frightened from the ship by some very spooky drums. Most tragically, the ship was carrying 30 containers of some premium blackberry wine. He asks the adventurers to investigate what happened to the ship and bring back the ship manifest if they could. Berno sends them off with some packaged picnics for them to eat along the way.
The adventurers swing by the Golden Plow to pick up Claire and Jixy, mount up on some rented horses and travel on their way.
Getting to the nearest side of the search area, they stumble upon some shark-seal hybrids on the beach. Claire recalled that the hybrids were a delicacy, so the adventurers decided to try them some Bunyip meat. After discovering that the Bunyip had a fearfill roar (and getting some jogging in), they put to and eventually defeated the beast. They then discovered that parts of the Bunyip tasted like ham and bacon while other parts tasted like shark fin. The adventures camped, feasted and tormented some seagulls. Throughout the night, an ominous drumbeat played off in the distance.
The next morning, they followed the coastline through the search area, and climbed up a cliff for a better vantage. They were able to spot the shipwreck and some ragged humanoids standing on the beach, but as they crept closer, they found a skeleton archer on the clifftop with them. Battle began and although they were able to handily defeat the undead, the skeletons rang an alarm triangle, alerting more undead, including a ghost captain and a red skeleton who were on the ship. Splashing through the water, the ghost and skeleton made it to shore and joined the fight in progress. The ghost began encouraging the other undead with spells and music, but it was not enough. The fearsome adventurers demolished the undead, while Claire and Drakovan were able to see through the illusion, that the ghost captain was merely a mortal elven bard.
After defeating the undead and capturing the bard, the adventurers set to investigating the shipwreck and interrogating their prisoner. They discovered that the bard has a fear of black blood, that the ship had two manifests with subtle differences and that the bard had been selling the containers of wine to pay an necromancer to raise undead to control. The heroes then helped themselves to the largest barrel of blackberry wine remaining while leaving Claire to guard the bard and defeating the red skeleton when it arose again. They determined that they didn't have the tools to fix the ship themselves, so they secured the wine and the manifests on the beach. Then they returned to Berno Boffin with the prisoner in tow.
The halfling is confused that they didn't bring the manifest, but thankful that they were able to locate and secure the ship and most of its cargo and gave them the promised gold. Once he can get a crew together, he will send a second ship to go retrieve the first's cargo. Drakovan then tortured the bard with his scorpion before using two scrolls of Transfer Tattoo to steal a tattoo from the bard's finger. After breaking the bard's spirit and taking his stuff, the party drop him off at the guards for a sizable reward.
