The crowd was think and loud but such is the way of the Plow. Particularly now with rumor of the basement opening soon. This nights festivities however were interrupted by a heavy banging. The music stopped and the crowds went silent. With nothing offering itself in the way of explanation it was only a few long seconds before the music and hubbub began once again.
Yet some of those at the plow were not satisfied to let it slide and Duade was approached by Leon. The barkeep looked ashen and asked the Oracle to gather those who might be able to help if indeed help were needed. Then he came out from behind the bar and went downstairs. The revelry continued for some minutes before again a noise reverberated through the plow. This time a metallic *clinking* sound, seemingly coming from below. It was recognized as the sound of pick on stone.
Seconds later Big D came thundering back up the stairs and bellowed out, "THOSE WHO WILL FIGHT FOR THE PLOW TO ME! THE REST OF YOU GGGEEEETTTT OOUUUUUTTTTT!"
The barkeep let those who followed downstairs and explained about the portal in his basement. He explained how the portal seems to have some sort of agenda and opens when there is something that needs taken care of. He explained how it had been inert for a decade and has just recently become active again. "Somethings coming through. I need to go warn some people and so ask you to defend the Plow from what comes through that door."
The adventurers agreed of course and Big Duade sprinted away.
While they did agree to fight what had come through the portal, the group decided that attack was better than defense. Then removed the heavy iron bars from the heavy iron door and charged through. It was Ogres. Brutish Ogres, sneaky Ogres, and Ogres with murderous commands. The beasts would have stood no chance but for a well aimed spell that caused the already untrusted Leon to attack his allies. This of course did not go well and the adventurers caused for more damage to each other than their enemies had any hope of doing.
Never-the-less the group muddled through and soon the basement grew quite.

Meanwhile, Duade had given his warnings and was sprinting back to the Plow when he happened across Felix. The giant of a man offered help and horse, while a winded Duade happily accepted both. They arrived at the Plow and may their way down to the basement a minute or two after the last Ogre had fallen.

The portal remained open...
Duade explained how the portal would stay open until whatever needed doing was done. He described how the portal would behave as it was about to close. He asked the adventurers to finish this. Through the portal they went.
As the blinding light of the portal fled from their eyes they realized they were in a cave of Ice. Two other Ogres and one other, a blue skinned one, waited for them. The blue skinned one was the first to wake from the surprise and he closed, extending his hand and blasting the entire group with bitter cold. With that opener the battle was on in full swing. Despite the huge opener, the Ogres simply didn't have the staying power to stand against the adventurers and soon the battle was over. A few minutes later the portal began losing stability and the party quickly made their way through, with the blue skinned brute.
What to do with the brute led to yet another party conflict, this one resulting in Felix being impaled with two of Adraste's arrows. Before the adventurers could implode Duade explained this nature of this Ogre, this... Oni. As if to punctuate Duade's warnings the beast awoke, leaving the group no choice but to put it down. And thus the problem was solved.
Duade thanked the adventurers, rewarded them, and explained that the preparations for the basement would be expedited and that it would open in a matter of days.
