Martha Gildson came into the Golden Plow, asking for help to rescue her kid. After avoiding a couple questions, the heroes started to get suspicious and pressed her for details. She relented and admitted that "her kid" was a goat that she wanted them to rescue. Nevertheless, she offered them 200 gold each, if they would go into the cave that the goat had went in and rescued him.
After traveling south about an hour, they were about to find the cave, with its famed smell. Venturing inside, they soon realized that the save was a tight squeeze and ran into some scorpions who were more at home with the tight spaces. The heroes beat the scorpions up enough that the vermin fled. After searching for prints, they found some goat prints that left further into the cave.
The brave heroes went further into the cave, when the smell amazingly got worse and they heard an argument in draconic. Using Vorumgar and Emmet as translators, the heroes attempted some fast talking. They went around the corner and were able to defuse a confrontation with a group of troglodytes. Emmet further convinced the troglodytes to give up the goat that they didn't have, for two bottles of whiskey, a goat and half a pig. Once a deal was struck, the troglodytes pointed them past an unknown "arm thing" to where the goat had gone.
The heroes ventured further into the cave and found themselves up against a tentamort. However, the heroes used their superior intellect to press their advantage and attack the tentamort from a position of superiority. Shortly the tentramort was slain.
The heroes then explored the far side of the caves and was able to find Tommy the goat in a niche in the cave. Tercius Cold-Hand sung to the scared beast and befriended it. Deciding not to tempt the Troglobytes with the decision of "One goat now vs maybe a goat later", the heroes took an untraveled path back toward the scorpions. They found some of the cowed scorpions and then faced off against the so-called "Queen of the Scorpions". However the Queen's size worked against it, as it was too large to fight the adventurers very well. Felix destracted the Queen and damaged it, while Emmet was able to swoop in and kill the beast, while Soran and Tercius protected their flanks. Then the heroes searched the Queen's lair, finding a locket and some small items. The adventurers then escaped the cave.
They returned Tommy to Martha and collected their reward. They then bought the Troglodytes their promised barter and went to a local hamlet to return the mementos. They brought closure to several families whose teenage boys had ventured into the cave on a dare and collected a bounty from a spineless waste of a town guard.
