Herace gets a potion of Firebelly (caster level 1, labeled Fizzy Fun Drink version 2). Homebrew exception to the Personal range potion rule.
Journal:
On a rainy day, on their way to the Golden Plow, a peasant is watching adventurers. Certain adventurers, he will approach and ask them to follow him into an alley. Inside the alley, he offers them a mission in a nearby tavern called The Fizzy Drink.
There the man (likely last name of Burlip) lays out a sob story, where his sister (Shelly Burlip) was accused of assaulting a noble. She had been assigned a public defender of Theo Raven, who accepted a bribe from the noble's family to throw her case. Shelly Burlip was convicted without good evidence and hung herself in jail. He offers the adventurers a small reward (150 gp split amongst the adventurers) if they would kill the lawyer Theo Raven.
The adventurers case Theo's office in The Fallen Angel law offices for an hour and spot guards. They return to the tavern (and Herace begins trying the Gnomist potables). The Black Fox follows Theo home and learn the route that the lawyers take.
The adventurers meet back up and come up with a plan. The Black Fox and Dryth go and investigate the law office and search it for anything of value. The others take the time to set up an ambush along Theo's route from his house to the Fallen Angel.
The next morning, the adventurers hide in the a narrow part of the route and on the roofs and catch the four guards and the three lawyers in an awkward corner. A short but dire fight later and Theo flickers invisible for a moment and escapes the trap. He runs away, The adventurers panic and chase after him (with Ismene taking the chance to "disable in a non-nonlethal manner" some of the surrendered foes). They down Theo and search the lawyers for loot.
Afterwards, most of the adventurers blend into the crowd and escape. Herace and Walter decide to drag an unconscious lawyer away for ransom, but run into some Rook town guards. They lie (badly) but pretend to be dumb northerners and manage to piece together a somewhat convincing lie, but give the lawyer to the guards in the process. They move away just as the town guard starts pouring a potion into the lawyer.
The Black Fox left his symbol in the Lawyer's office as well as on the dead lawyer's shirt.
