XP:
500 each
Loot:
150 GP each
Neigh lost a horse.
Each player may keep a giant vulture talon, beak or some feathers as a free trophy (not worth anything additional if sold). The vultures were 15 feet tall, with wingspan of about 30' and weighing 500 lbs, for an idea of scale.
Journal:
A woman comes into the Golden Plow looking for someone to kill a band of Goblins who have been killing some horses (both wild and rancher's horses) for food. The Longstride Ranch is offering a reward of 20 gp per head on these goblins. A likely group of adventurers head out into the wilds.
They first encounter four giant vultures, which they manage to defeat. The group rests, enjoying much beer and trying the vulture meat (over which they had over a thousand pounds of). Healing some of their wounds (and relocating a passing snake), they press on to track the goblins.
Finding the goblins camp, the adventurers observe and devise a plan. They will sneak near the camp, send the mounted Neigh to draw attention and form an orderly battleline. Instead, someone gets spotted getting into position, Neigh draws attention and tries to kite the goblins, but accidentally draws support from one of the melee members, Ismene. Neigh continues with his kiting plan and returns to the batteline, but the battleline is in a bit of disarray. Siege had snuck around to do a pincher attack on his own, but his stealth isn't up for the task and he draws two goblins and a goblin dog to him. Ismene gets attacks far from the healers and falls unconscious. Without their two melee focused, the battleline begins to colapse, but the adventurers manage to seriously wound the goblins in the exchange. As the wounded individual goblins begin escaping, the self proclaimed goblin leader decides to capture the adventurers instead of killing them. He forces them to bargain for their lives by giving up one of Neigh's horses. Neigh regretfully agrees.
Hanging their head in shame, the adventures return to the vulture corpses, gather them up and bring them to Rook to see if they can be sold for some profit on the trip. Some candlemakers buy the meat for tallow and the giant feathers and talons make great novelties.
