In the north east of the Knowledge district, in a lot that had recently held a house, now stands a small partially completed school. The front facade looks respectable and maintains some of the personality of the former house. A clear path allows entryway from the main entrance to the one functioning classroom, but canvas tarps and scaffolding block visitors from venturing too far into the incompletely renovated building. Cornelius Faust is directing some newly hired caretakers to complete clearing out more of the house's detritus for the next expansion when a delivery boy comes up to the building with a paper covered package. Faust thanks the boy and stalks to the front entrances with a hammer and a handful of nails and bronze rosettes. "Finally, lets see if they were able to get the inscription right this time." Faust mutters to himself. He unwraps the bronze plaque and chuckles to himself. A bit of work with the hammer and the plaque is mounted by the main entrance.
Cornucopia Academy.
[In Celestial] Knowledge OverflowingFaust then nails a more humble sign under the plaque. "Classes offered in magical theory, the art of arcane spell casting and languages. The following languages are currently being taught as three week courses: Abyssal, Auran, Celestial, Draconic, Elven, Ignan and Infernal. Research and translation projects undertaken. Inquire inside for details."
A second sign has been added: "Bespoke Wand crafting services offered. Wand of a first circle spell: 608gp. Wand of a second circle spell: 3840gp Price may depend on spell. Ask for Faust."

Faust will answer the door. He is a tall tiefling with dark purple skin and prominent horns and tail. He currently is wearing a bit of a threadbare robe and has a paintbrush clasped in his tail.
"Ah, greetings! I am Cornelius Faust, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting visitors but am glad to have them."

Faust comes out, twirling a newly crafted wand over his hand. "Yes, I think this will do," he says satisfied. He grabs the wand with his tail and draws another sign. Taking a few moments of work, he places a second sign by the door, advertising his skills in crafting wands.

Saathe comes up to the Academy and looks for what would be the entry/research room. "Hello? I understand magical research projects are being done? My blood makes me magically inclined to the...what was it called..necromancy school of magic? I want to to research more about what I can do."

Faust, a dark red tiefling is in the magical library room with a half finished wand. He sets it aside and greets Saathe.
"Ah certainly. Would you be more interested in how your blood is different or are you trying to learn the basics of necromancy? I can attempt to aid a bit in both of those, but will warn you that I only dapple in necromancy myself. The only two spells of necromancy that I use often enough to try to teach would be Disrupt Undead and Chill Touch. If you want to delve deeper into the darker arts, you might have to find a specialist and be mindful of the local laws."

"I am interested in both actually. I'm not even certain that I can learn spells that I don't just....feel, so I don't know how effective trying to will be. Forgive me for my basic understanding. The words and hand motions of what I know are all I have managed to control so far." Saathe the cyan tiefling says, ashamed of her weakness.
(OOC: I just found this from sorcerer page.(after initial post) These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the sorcerer has gained some understanding of through study.)

"Ignorance is never a fault, especially since you're trying to learn. If you'd like to brush up on the basics, you're welcome to sit in on some of my classes to the children studying to be mages. Or I can try to teach you any spell I know." (OOC: If you would like to retrain to swap out your spells known or use the academy as an excuse to pick up certain skills or languages next time you level up, you are welcome to. In the case of retraining, you would pay the normal fees for retraining to NPCs not to Faust, since PCs cannot count as trainers for each other (to the best of my knowledge).) "If you want me to research your blood, I might need to take a sample and ask some questions. If I find out anything like it in my travels or studies, I'll reference it to you."

"If I am to live with this for the rest of my life, I would like to know more about what I am dealing with. I can try and see what I can learn from your class, and see what those other spells you said earlier are. You can have a sample if you want. We might need a pony or something around my size you don't mind killing as research for my blood. I get the urge to do something people have described as gruesome to the body...and no it doesn't involve making it undead or eating it on the spot."

"Can you explain to me what happens, without a demonstration? I would prefer to keep my school clean and I do not yet know what to expect if I were to supply you with a pony for your exhibition."

"Basically I touch the body and a lot of blood from it just rushes into my mouth, healing minor wounds and it feels like I don't have to eat another meal for awhile.

"That is interesting. At the basic level, drawing sustenance from blood and increased ability in necromancy draws the attention toward vampires. The specifics seem different, as I would assume more biting would be involved for a vampire. Have you noticed any aversion to garlic?"

Saathe looks confused at Faust. "No....? Not that I am aware of. That is a very strange question. Do vampires hate garlic or something?"

"Traditionally, the cannot stand the stuff. I haven't had a chance to test that nugget of information personally. I'm afraid I don't really know much about undead, just the basics, but if I happen to come across anything in my studies or my trips like what you describe I would be glad to let you know."

"What was that spell you said earlier that you could teach? Chill touch, was it? What does it do and could you teach it to me?" When is the next class that I could learn the basics from?" What local laws do I need to know about?"

Faust transitions into instructor mode. "Chill Touch is a necromancy spell of the first circle. It harms and weakens the strength of a living subject touched, but requires you to be able to touch your foe. Against undead, it may frighten them."
Transitioning back to conversation, "If you'd like, I could attempt to teach you the components of the spell over two days or so, and we can see if you can pick it up. I have basic magic classes starting every week, mostly to instruct children whose parents think they will be the next Archmage Lormia."
"Regarding the local laws, I would assume any spells that hurt a subject could be considered assault if used recklessly. Any that kill the living or raise undead might be viewed as more criminal. I am not aware of any specific prohibition against necromancy, but then I don't usually teach it to the young students anyway, with the exception of Disrupt Undead."

Griv walks down the streets and notices a sign offering wands. He walks into the door, looks around a bit and eventually says: "Hey, anyone here? Im looking for one of those sticks you can wave around. Preferably something to patch up wounds with. You got something for me?"

"Certainly, sir. I can have a wand of Cure Light Wounds or Infernal Healing crafted for you tomorrow for 600 gold. Which would you prefer?"

"Well, let's make that a wand of Infernal healing then. I'm sure I can get it to work if I try enough. Here's 600 gold" As Griv hands over the gold to Faust.

Lisa comes walking in: "Hey Faust, weird question, but I believe I want a wand of Reduce person. Something in me said it'd be useful for me, to become even less noticable." As she blinks away shortly and reappears. "600 gold that is right?" As she grabs the gold out of her bag of holding.
