Wanted to check how these two interact. My understanding is that there are two options:
1. It does nothing, Boon Companion can't add to your effective druid level if it is already your character level.
2. It can be taken and applied to each animal companion (so take it three times for three companions) and it will raise their level by four up to your character level. for example, three companions on a lvl 20 Druid: Alpha (level 12), Beta (level 4) and Gamma (level 4) could be buffed to Levels 16, 8 and 8 respectively by taking Boon companion 3 times.

Packlord/Broodmaster/ect generally don't lower your level for the effect of the companion, it makes you split your level among your companions. Boon Companion increases your effective level by 4 and no higher than your current level. This means that a level 12 packlord could have 2 level 6 pets (6+6=12) but couldn't have 2 level 8 pets (8+8=16 which is higher than his total level). If you were a packlord 8/fighter 4 however you could still have 2 6 level pets (6+6=12, 12 being 4 higher than your total level of 8 in packlord, and still being less than or equal to his total character level of 12).
In short, Boon Companion really only helps you if you multiclass out and actually lose levels of the class granting you the companion, or for cases like Ranger where you have a negative modifier tacked onto your actual level for the purposes of generating a companion.

The black and white text of the rules is a little unclear on the issue. I'm going to go with no since having a bunch of animal companions leveled with you sounds problematic. I'll reconsider if Paizo makes an official decision.
