About Me
I'm 22, a freelance web developer with lots of time to dick around on my computer. I haven't been playing Pathfinder or tabletop RPGs in general for more than about 6 months, but I've been DMing for that entire time. None of my friends had ever played, but I was interested, so I went out and bought the PF Beginner Box. DMed one session with it and immediately went out and bought the Core, Bestiary, and APG. Been running weekly home sessions since, plus DMing at PFS around the city, playing as many different RPGs as I can find games for, and painting miniatures. You could say it's a pretty major hobby now. Anyways, I was introduced to DG about a week ago and I think it's a very appealing idea - something similar to PFS that I can play on my own schedule and with a different set of restrictions. Seems like a very cool thing and I'd love to help out.
Why I Want to DM
There are a lot of new players arriving, and I think we need more DMs to support them and host games. For the first while I was a member, I couldn't find anything to play as they were starting too late or I was busy. I'd love to get some earlier games running and try to expand the times players can find active games, which seems to be a big goal of DG. I also just really enjoy DMing.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I feel like I can adapt to many different player and group styles from my experience with my home games and PFS DMing, and I really enjoy doing it - hopefully that positive energy rubs off on my players. As for weaknesses, I know that creating campaigns from scratch will be somewhat of a new experience for me, since I'm used to running pre-written or at least pre-outlined campaigns. However, I'm looking forward to the freedom that it will bring, and I can only get better with practice.
Goals
I am a big fan of early RPG style straight up dungeon crawls with less exposition and more stabby stab, problem solving and player-driven RP. Riddles, traps, RP encounters, love em. As long as you don't ask me why those bandits or beasts living in the cave want you dead. They're baddies, they kill stuff. I think that's a style that can fit within DG, especially as low-impact one-shots. I know there's players out there that like this kind of DM style, and I'd love to be the one to bring it to them.
So - that's it. Really hope you'll consider me. Hit me up in IRC whenever and I'll try to get a game together to show my stuff. I'll be putting together a 3-session approval campaign on R20 over the next couple days. Oh, if you want to check out what I'm doing currently, click here to check the adventure log, wiki, and characters currently in my home game.
