I joined Dragon's Gate because I've been looking for a fun game on Roll20 for far too long and this looks like a near perfect setup to what I was searching for. I think this is a very ambitious undertaking, but a good one. I'm posting here because I think you'll need all the help you can get and I wouldn't mind helping a little bit with the load every other week or so.
Strengths:
I'm very familiar with most of the rules for pathfinder and the majority of the classes.
I'm flexible and adapt my sessions on the fly to try to maximize fun for all players.
I love map-making and encounter designing so that there are always more than one solution to a problem.
Weaknesses:
I have not DMed very extensively so I lack some knowledge about CR vs EXP gains. In fact previously when DMing I just told the PCs when they level (which obviously won't work in this environment).
It takes me a long time to set up a session and I have trouble judging how long one might go (should clear up over time).
I'm not comfortable running for more than 4-5 players in a session.
Style:
Fun is king, rule of cool applies within reason.
Every session should have at least a little of the three main elements: Social-Skill-Roleplay, Combat, and Secrets-Traps.
The spotlight should try to shine on all the characters equally.
Smart plans get rewarded, dumb plans might get you killed.
Not everything is out to kill the players, sometimes an NPC can be a good guy.
Goal of this post:
To give the DMs here a break from time to time and help give back to the community.
Questions:
What are your EXP/Loot guidelines?
What kind of houserules do you use and are GMs allowed to have a couple at their tables. For example, I prefer to make summoning take 10x as long and let druids use spontaneous cure spells to make up for it so everyone at the table gets closer to equal time.
Are you able to say that you don't want certain classes playing in your game? For example, Paladins may break some sessions so it might only be good for everyone if they're left out.
Let me know if you're interested, no hard feelings if you aren't.
