i assume you cannot spend magic capital to lessen the cost of a magic item crafted FOR you but not BY you correct?
(correct me if i am wrong, and if i am worng then the rest of the post has no meaning)
Going by that assumption:
a crafter can spend p.e. 4x390gp to buy 4 alchemy labs, for 1560gp
this provides by itself daily 4 magic influence if you pay 200gp/day
let's add a random manager to make the checks, so 5/day, for 250gp and 3gp/day cost
let's say this crafter now wants to craft a cloak of resistance +3 (9k item)
which is reduced to 4.5k item due to crafting
which is 45 magic influence, which is earned in 9 days and costs 2250gp.
and 3x9 =27 gp cost for the manager, so something less than 2280gp.
4500-2280= 2220 gp gain, -1560gp original cost = 660 gp gain. from doing nothing at all. you can be sitting at your home sipping tea for all that matters.
that is the first nine days.
afterwards, someone may sit in him home and make DOZENS OF THOUSANDS GP due to magic capital making your craft cost 1/4 of the buy price.
ALL other uses of capital or of downtime are 100% useless. Things like 100-150gp/use +5to a check. or 20 gp for a +2 to a crafting check. or 2gp/day.
as a pure example, in those same 9 days that crafting gave a pure 660gp income (that is purely from the capital, in addition to the 50% gain of the feat) the same alchemist lab would have earned:
5*9 -3*9 (for the manager) = 18gp.
so 660gp = 18gp with the crafting rules, for the same shop. the same manager. doing more or less the same things.
SO:
crafters already have a tremendous advantage compared to non crafters (something close to 40% extra wbl).
if a non-crafter cant spend his capital for magic items, then this differance will grow even more, to a point where it will simply be not viable to play a non-crafter in Dragons gate.
Already, a crafter using downtime rules can have something like a +6 item (36k item) by lvl 5 (10.5k total wbl) which is ridiculous for balance sake.
a martial with a +5weapon on lvl6 wouldn't be far from truth either (16k wbl, 50k/4= 12.5k to craft using downtime and crafting feat)
so i propose that using magic capital for magic item crafting should be abolished
