So, some food for thought. I've been studying and practicing historical based sword fighting for over a year. As someone who has practiced and sparred with steel in a variety of armament, I have a comment on dual wielding. It's actually a bit easier than single sword, but has a much different effect than one might think. Generally speaking you have a smaller weapon like a foot long knife in your off hand and it serves more as defense freeing your weapon from needing to have a dual purpose of offense and defense. Generally speaking you don't really have to be ambidextrous at all, having spoken to several other that I practice with who are ambidextrous and it's a different skill. Dual wielding also has an added benefit when fighting multiple people as a single weapon is terrible for crowd control unless it's specifically designed for that, like a quarterstaff. Again, not suggesting changing anything just some food for thought. Some References: youtu.be/7s7KfetTixQ?t=4m59swww.youtube.com/watch?v=3MLdCxAXfPkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=-EKpnpE0xhU&t=40s
