Total Session XP/Loot: As per Character Level
Session Date: 10/27/2016
GM Rayl - Talon(CL2)
Player Loot:
Jack: 2 influence, +1 for sparing the Fire Giants, and giving them free reign over most of the mountain range
Lin: 2 influence
Alby: 2 influence
Influence: 2 base
Hearing rumors of a fort offering gold to help them with a problem, Jack, Lin, and Alby investigated. The inhabitants said they were under the threat Fire Giants wanting to conquer their mountain. With this, the Group boarded Jack's Airship and flew over to the volcano. After discussing how to deal with the giants, they decided the best course of action would be to simply wipe them out. They began bombarding the giants from the sky, quickly killing their pet Pyrohydra, and injuring a number of the giants. Roused by the combat, an Old Magma Dragon rose out of the pool of lava in the crater, flying up to deal with the menace himself. After a back-and-forth spell-slinging heated combat, the Magma Dragon was forced to retreat. Having discovered were the Dragon teleported to, Jack quickly dispatched him.
The group, after seeing the Fire Giants lose the will to fight, decided it would be best to go talk with the Giants. They learned the the Dragon had been uniting the giants in a "good" way, to conquer the mountain range. Hearing this, Jack stated, as if he had full authority over the region, they that would be permitted to conquer all the mountains in that range except for the one that fort was on. Knowing that they had no chance at beating them if they refused, and given that Jack seemed sincere in his "gift," they accepted.
After reporting to the fort that they completed the task, the group decided to explore the volcanic tunnels under the volcano. They discovered a number of Magma Elementals doing Magma Elemental things. This launched a discussion into what Magma Elemental things were, however it still ended rather vague as they don't need to eat or sleep. Continuing on into the tunnels, the group found a carved obsidian door. Jack proceeded to take his adamantine nodachi and simply cut a hole through it. Inside they found a room carved out of the rock, with a hole in the center and three trenches leading away from it to carved blocks by the wall. After some thinking and tinkering and telekinesis from Alby, they discovered it was a mechanism of some kind and figured out how it worked. Jack was against it, saying that it would probably open up a portal to Hell, or something else just as bad. However, after solving the simple puzzle, all that happened was a passage open up. The passage on the other hand DID lead to an inactive portal to hell. Reading its infernal runes, Jack learned that it needed a Blood Sacrifice to activate. With this knowledge Jack went to cut himself to offer blood, but slipped and nearly chopped his entire arm off. With the offering the Portal activated, and a very hostile Shadow Angel stepped out. The group retreated back down the passage, and two Vanths were summoned to combat the fallen angel. They stopped retreating, however, when they realized the Vanths were holding back the Shadow Angel as neither could adequately harm the other. Lin began bombarding the Angel with kinetic blasts designed to hit its incorporeal body, forcing the Angel to retreat back through the portal, and fired off one last blast as it closed.
Patting themselves on the back for a job well done, the Group went off in search of their next venture.
