[Please read the recruitment post and sign up there (if you have an applicable character) before posting here.] It was a cool morning on the surface, but Varian wouldn't have known it. He was busy floating around the library, pulling various texts and devices from their place among the shelves. He had been attempting to determine more information concerning The One, but had thus far come up empty. Though he had no reason to deny the claims set forth by the entity within the book, his standard procedure was to verify any information. A slight frown was all that would betray his emotions, but he was growing impatient. The small blue sphere, a 'Fragment' the being had called it, had proven as puzzling as anything else. It didn't appear to possess any magical auras, but he could sense without any spell that it just felt like Transcendent magic. He took it out of his pocket to examine once more. "I guess it's time to try this.." he said to no-one in particular. He put the Fragment away and floated back down to his worktable, careful not to ruffle his notes or the other two devices that were on it, and had been on it. No amount of magical investigation yielded new information about them. He could sense something about them, but it wasn't a school of magic or anything else he was familiar with. He knew that artifacts could conceal information about themselves, but that wouldn't explain the chaotic assortment of energies that had manifested when Lazarus attempted his reading, nor the fact that the reading had produced rather unusual results. He sighed, then attempted to telepathically contact Miere. "If you're there, friend, I believe it's time to experiment with the Fragments and devices we recovered from the Transcendent Library.." he thought, attempting to establish communication with Miere. Miere looked at the small orb with some mild amusement. He wasn't as learned in the ways of magic as some of his peers like Lazarus, nor could he simply accurately guess as per Lemon. So far the orb had given him nothing and it was proving to be somewhat of a puzzle. Tapping it lightly with a mantis, he considered the words that had been told when given them, and pondered the relation to the other two devices - one that collected enery and one that stored it. Such a pair were no doubt intrinsically linked to the pearlesque aspects they had been given but unfortunately Miere didn't have much idea on where to start.
After a few more idle moments of tinkering, Miere decided trying alone was clearly not going to be fruitful, especially with allies far more skilled at such endeavors. Meeting in his house, though large enough, posed a potential risk should any harnessed energies go out of control. As such Miere stood, stretching, and walked out of one of his offices after picking up the little sphere. Spotting one of the Narum, Miere waved to the young man and called him over. "Nathaniel, would you mind passing the word that I'll be conducting some experiments with a few of my allies. I'll be making a new demiplane for it, designated 'Aether Room' should anyone wish to find me." "Certainly Mr. Klerrin, is there anyone I should specifically tell first?" the young man said, an eager and guileless smile on his face."
Chuckling, Miere patted the man on the shoulder. "You can call me Miere as always Nathaniel, no need to be overly formal. No one in particular, no. I trust your judgement in determining who specifically needs to contact me. The usual methods should work fine." As the man nodded and moved on to continue his work, Miere sent out a quick thought. "Tessaria, I'm going to be making the demiplane I mentioned, is there anything you need before I do? I may be away for a few hours." "No, I'm fine. Good luck and say hi to your friends for me. I'll be in Serans Heath after I finish up their lesson. Maria's daydreaming again but we'll get there." a kindly voice replied, a hint of amusement underlying the message. Miere smiled to himself. "Better than the alternative. I'll see you in a few hours then, love you." "Oh, you had better." came the reply, causing Miere to laugh and slightly startle a passing member of the Narum.
Walking outside, and his mood considerably lightened, Miere wandered out into a small meadow. Pausing briefly to crouch down and scratch a cat behind its ears as it rubbed up against his leg, he came to a secluded spot and pondered the requirements for a suitable area. It seemed best to start simple. Raising his hands and deflty slicing through the air, Miere then stepped forwards and a new world rippled into view. It was plain and spartan, a pleasant warm cream coloured stone suffusing the floors and walls which stretched as far as you could see, clearly looping in on itself. The ceiling was high and vaulted, clear windows lending a more than servicable level of illumination. Aether Room had been made.
Suddenly receiving a message from Varian, Miere smiled. "I'm here Varian. I agree, and you picked an auspicious time. I've just made a suitable demiplane to study them in, should anything go wrong. If you go to the archway door on Third Clarion Way in Nyhavn, it leads right into it. Are you able to contact the others at all? I'll be sending word to Lazarus." With a thought he opened the link to Rainen. "Rainen, as Lazarus may have informed you, we have a series of small orbs and a pair of magical devices that could help in combating the dark tapestry. Would you be able to let him know I've made a new demiplane called Aether Room?" As he gestured to his side, a small rift opened, leading to Nyhavn. "I've created a gateway out into one of the old locations to Lucror in Nyhavn at Third Clarion Way, it should allow an easy enough entry for everyone." It was indeed time to start pooling their resources.

"We really must discover an easy method for contacting our allies, but I believe I can get a message across," he sent, then sighed and cracked his fingers. His eyes began to glow a faint red as he spoke. "I wish that the allies I am thinking of could hear the following message immediately, 'This is Varian. We are preparing to experiment with the devices we found in the library. Meet me on Clarion Way in Nyhavn if possible.'". He could feel the Efreet blood within him swell with power for a moment as the ancestral magic took hold of his words, Sending them out to the rest of his allies. He shuddered for a moment, then laughed and gathered up his research materials and the devices. He gestured for one of the scribes to come over, and the young woman hesitantly approached.
"If anyone comes calling for me here, please let them know I will be unavailable for the next few hours," he said absently, his mind already refocusing on the effort at hand. He spoke the words of magic, gesturing in fluid yet precise movements, and disappeared. Had he cared to stay a moment later, he would have heard the woman finally reply, "But no-one ever.. asks for you..here."
Emerging precisely where Miere had indicated, Varian transformed back into his generally-accepted old-looking body. It had served him well, even if it was mostly a lie these days. "It's certainly nice to smell the outdoors again. It's been far too long," he thought aloud, looking around to see if Miere was still there or had already taken the portal that was now clearly visible to his senses.

Sitting upon her floating spire gazing upon the workings of her city and the country beyond the impressive walls. Lemon smiled as she cooed her dear child Morrigan in her arms. Though there were no actual walls, magically imbued walls of force prevented any unwanted individuals from flying in but allowed a gentle breeze to ventilate the room. A simple octagonal room with 8 spires and half fences, the room itself was similar to a floating gazebo. Decorated with expensive rugs, a single wardrobe, an elaborate bed covered with expensive silk bed sheets and various exotic potted plants the room was incredibly beautiful in definition. Using various arcane and divine magics to keep itself afloat above a tall tower, it looked like something straight out of a fantasy novel.
Taking a deep sigh Lemon couldn't help but smile as she looked over the city with her beloved daughter, raising a Starbound Icy-Daemon Tiefling baby was no easy task but she cherished every day of it. Though her loving husband Rin would help from time to time, he preferred to mingle in his icy caverns under the mountain that Rainen constructed due to Lemons' wishes. Not much could be gathered about the dealings there, but she could easily guess. Chuckling she raises Morrigan up as the baby itself spread its various limbs from the hands to the feet to the icy tail and frozen wings spreading out various specks of stardust and light, the baby itself was cute. As she smiles to the child she attempts to sing it to sleep, though her singing isn't quite spectacular it was decent enough [38] to have her baby enjoy the warmth of her embrace in a calm manner.
As the baby finally fell to rest Lemon finally gives another deep sigh. Proceeding to shake her head she begins to smile once more, "It's been quite a road until this point but who would know that raising a child would be the most difficult task of all. Creating a country and acting as a diplomat for various countries was way easier than this. Though none of them quite enjoyable I guess... Goodness me I'm talking to myself." As she chuckles she pauses for a moment as a certain wish and message arrives into her mind.
Giving a interested smile she sends uses the telepathic bond to her loving husband, "My dearest Rin, Morrigan is asleep in my room and it seems Varian is in need of help with something interesting. Please come to take care of Morrigan for me," but as she finished the message she got bored of waiting, immediately using various spells to jump into a plant close-by to arrive onto the mountain resort. Looking around at the startled resort maids, they all immediately scramble into a neat single file line as they bow to her. The head maid straight laced and keeping a dignified expression looks to Lemon stating; "It is an honor for you to come by Mistress Lemon, was there anything you wished for us to do?"
"It's fine Glava Moama, I came to drop of Morrigan in your care until my husband stops by to pick her up," giving a gentle smile her warmth made the various maids relax their posture for a moment, though they immediately stood straight up once more after regaining their thoughts.
"Leave it to us maids, Mistress Lemon!" After stating that, the other maids also replied in the same way, the determination in their eyes to please her made Lemon very cheerful. Though to her it was no big deal, choosing to provide education and job opportunities to those unable to gain either had made her incredibly popular to work for and had provided a large amount of citizens that wished nothing more than to please her.
After sliding the child over to the maid she chuckles at her baby giving Morrigan a kiss to the face as she bid it farewell before nodding her head once more and sending another telepathic message to her husband, "I left Morrigan under the care of Glava, they'll take care of her our home on the mountain." Nodding her head after completing these responsibilities she hops back into another plant close-by popping up in Nyhavn she chuckles as she nods her head to the various tenants in charge of her restaurant chain here. Looking around she confirmed it's profits as she walked outside.
Taking a nice stroll she waved her hips every so slightly as she walked taking wild ganders on the current situation and arriving at Clarrion Way she looks up to the single door that leads to a new demiplane and looks around for both Varian and Miere, and the others that chose to come.

"The outdoors does have an appeal Varian." Miere said, smiling as he raised a hand in greeting to Varian. He stood outside at the doorway, leaning against it as he waited. "Prompt as ever, and closely matched by our friend Lemon. Welcome, both of you." he said stepping forwards and half turning towards the door. Opening it, he gestured inside where the smooth stonework could be seen. "This is the place, Aether Room as I've named it."
Taking a step inside, Miere turned to the other two. "Was there anything either of you feel we need in here in terms of equipment? It wouldn't be much effort to resculpt the place to be more fitting. All it currently is happens to be a self looping space. Plenty of room for mishaps, not much in terms on comfort currently." Looking over his shoulder as he walked inside, Miere gave the pair a smile. "Also, how are you both? Any difficulties getting here?"

Joy rises up from meditating on her newfound perspective given by a powerful tome of understanding from a peaceful mountain top with a wide panoramic view in Nirvana. With two castings of greater teleport and a trip through her own mostly inhospitable demiplane, she arrives with a familiar crack floating above Clarion Way. Searching through her bag, she takes out her Essence of the Avatar along with an extremely moldy orange and starts to eat it whole while looking for Varian.

"I despise Moondays" I sigh to no one in particular, the headaches are always the worst on Moondays, In over a millennia of existence I have never been able to discover if the patrons had some sort of rigid schedule for me or if they were just particularly bored on Moondays, but It was on these days that they always chose to inundate me with a barrage of the most inane questions. "why do the leshar geese lay their eggs in clutches of 5" " Who first danced the dance of the peacock spider" "Why do most heart attacks happen on Moonday". The worst part is I knew they knew the answer, they just liked asking the questions. I walked into my personal library, where symbols of death, pain, forbiddance and antipathy littered the ground, the books, freshly moved from my the plains of the Bleak Peninsula to the sunny fields between two war hungry nations, were still there. I look out the window and see a gander of geese fly by, the afterimages of futures that will never be fading in and out like the wispiest smoke, I always liked geese they followed simple cause and effect. I looked down below the geese to gaze at the place were Regalia read to children in her new body, she had not been very difficult to convince, like the geese and most people she to followed a very simple cause and effect. "The first race riot in this academy will take place in 12,269,834 seconds" I muttered as I reached out and trimmed the strings of fate which led to that event "delayed by 54,123,297 seconds" I remarked to the audience hiding in my mind. I doubled over in pains as I felt the feedback of trillions of timelines collapsing, much like Moondays, my job never got easier.
As I contemplated the many futures were I jumped out of the window and ended everything, I looked into the distance at the Statue of Minderhal I had raised from a lonely mountain, he gave me and my creations the same dismissive stare that he gave since I was first born in his temple so many cycles ago, our father was always expectant of more from his errant children. I halt my ruminations on my own death and get back to the busy work of contemplating the end of existence, attempting to look deeper and deeper to the place were we win, until my apocalyptic thoughts are suddenly interrupted by a message from Varian, directing me to visit Nyhaven for some sort of experiments. I sigh as the threads of tangential fates unravel before my eyes, and I douse myself with a traditional array of spells to set out for what I hope to be an uneventful day. I stop and bow to my father watching over me before muttering a spell and finding myself in the streets of Clarion Way. As I looked around at the vibrant utopia I found myself in a bit of a daze, shocked by the amount of possibilities, this city and it's people were alive in a way few beings in this world were, constantly making choices, decisions and motions that affected them, for a moment I found myself looking into bright futures of chrome and glass and steel, of a plurality undivided in the pursuit of happiness. I snap myself out of this daze as a voice echoes in my head "How sad, a city of coddled lambs built for coddled lambs, perhaps they will all bleat together and make a song that will reach the heavens." I had never found a name for this patron, he never asked questions like the others did, but strengthened me nevertheless, he had been there since the earliest days, even before I became a grand eye, always reprimanding, when my youngest child had killed the eldest it had been him who stayed my hand, who led me to watch the bloodshed. He was unforgiving, but he was usually right, a son of Minderhall should not admire this soft utopia.
I set my eyes forward to the archway door and step through. I set eyes on Miere Klerin and once again go stock still, out of fear not admiration. As I look at this man I recall the feelings of first meeting him, and think to myself that truly nothing has changed. Through the haze of countless possible futures I see the unlikely futures were he is hostile, were he kills me as an afterthought, were he kills me out of spite, were he kills me out of pity. All these futures share one thread of similarity, I am helpless, no one stops him, no one cares. If I am a spider dancing and weaving the strings of fate then he is a great Mantis standing over me ready to clutch me in his raptorial front legs. No matter how I may pull my little strings it would be to no avail. Realizing that I have been staring at him unmoving for an eternity, or 30 seconds,I can never tell, I incline my head in greeting to Varian, Joy and what seems to be a Nymph in a Kimono, before bowing deeply to Miere "Robert Agathion reporting in, how may I assist you."

Looking around and smiling at both Miere and Varian and before she could respond both Joy and Robert showing up she nods her head at all 4 individuals. Chuckling to herself at that moment with a man that seems to be quivering in his boots. Shrugging her shoulders ever so slightly while maintaining a dignified posture she looks once more to Miere.
"Not at all Miere, it was rather easy to traverse the cities on Nyhavn. I would ask for a comfy place to relax after the various studies have taken place. Like a coffee room, have you ever had coffee? It's smell is so pleasant but the taste is quite horrendous." Frowning to show her distaste to the drink but quickly smiling again as she continues to look around, "Though! it does help keep people awake and provides energy to those that are tired, albeit completely useless with a ring of sustenance it does help with mental fatigue."
Moving her hand around her neck she uses it to brush her hair out of the way of her face, gracefully pulling out a scrunchie to tie her hair in an elaborate ponytail. Straying her sight towards Joy she smiles once more, "Joy you never stop by any more, we used to be like this..." as she places both her index fingers next to each-other, "... but now we're like thiiiiiiis," straying her hands farther away from each other. "Is it because my daughter? Please come by every now and then, I miss our times together." She frowns to that then after whistling she quickly moves on.
Looking around to Robert's uptight response she tilts her head ever so slightly. "You should be... Robert Agathion? I heard at one point you were some pseudo-Regalia of Heaven and was trapped in it's body or something like that. It must've been quite suffocating not being able to control your body."
Giving a slight chuckle to that she stretches her arms above her head in order to reveal a relaxed atmosphere, she leans back and falls into an invisible sofa (which is to say she simply fell back and and continues to fly in such a way that looks like she sits on an invisible sofa).

Looking up at Joy, Miere raised a hand in greeting. As Robert arrived he bowed in greeting. "Hello Joy, and greetings Robert. Thank you both for coming." Gesturing through the door, Miere smiled. "By all means follow me. This is the place we'll be using today." Miere walked in and gestured, a small area rippling as several small tables and chairs formed from the ground, rapidly changing to a rick and darkly coloured hardwood. Nodding at Lemon as she spoke, Miere pulled out a chair for her to either sit on or hover near.
"I can't say I've ever drunk much coffee and even tea isn't my preferred beverage, though I drink enough of it. I'm afraid I don't natively have coffee here, but it shouldn't be too difficult to get some." With a pulse of mental effort, Miere opened yet another gateway, this time to one of his stocked cellars. "There. Ample food and drink, though I'll need to seal the gateway off before we start fully experimenting." he said, smiling and inclining his head towards Lemon.
"Now," he said, taking a seat himself, "to answer your question Robert. We all have, or at least most of us have, one of these." he said, pulling out the small blue orb from his pocket and holding it up for the others to see. "This is a potential answer to the dark tapestry, or at least a partial answer to enact a form of magic to help keep them at bay for longer. Suffice to say, we received them from a potential ally who is several magnitudes more powerful than any of us, though their essence is effectively trapped in constant warfare with the tapestry itself."
Placing the orb on the table carefully, Miere continued. "As was mentioned to us, and as I'm sure Varian can elaborate on, we'll likely need to work together to unlock the secrets of these orbs and the two devices that accompanied them." Gesturing wide with his hands and an easy smile, Miere leant back in his chair. "In the same manner we were able to decipher the book that led us to them, so similar endeavours here should help us get results far faster than individual study."
Looking around at the group, Miere tilted his head slightly. "I honestly expected a few more of us, such as Lazarus and Char. Was there anyone else you contacted Varian? It would seem apt to wait for them before we truly begin discussing our ideas." Miere clasped his hands together, letting them fall into his lap. He seemed more than happy and patient enough to wait.

Varian had simple shrugged as Miere mentioned more materials. If they needed an expensive spell component they could always run out, but he was beginning to suspect that Miere's idea of eliminating as many variables as possible courtesy of an empty demiplane was perhaps the way to go. He waved absently as Lemon and Robert showed up, and smiled at the mention of coffee. "If the brew is bitter, then it was not properly prepared. The fact that we can survive without sustenance does not prevent the body from craving it, after all. And on cool mornings in the lab a cup of refreshing stimulant is helpful," he said.
He was silent as Miere explained the situation, and quite aptly. The man was a master wordsmith after all, likely the best in the world. As the question turned back to him, he frowned slightly. "I used the power of my ancestral blood to send the call out to many people we have worked with over the years, including Lazarus and Char. I can imagine Char being distracted by some shiny thing on his way here, but I would have expected Lazarus to be here..." he said, trailing off.
"If they don't show up soon, I do not believe there is harm in getting started. The first set of experiments should be the least risky, after all," he said. A small silvery figure flowed out of his arm and climbed up onto his shoulder. It nuzzled Varian's face for a moment, until the man sighed and held out a berry. "Yay!" it thought, telepathically transmitting the thought. It reached out with its tail and grabbed the berry, nibbling on it appreciatively.

"For what we are planning to do, the most reasonable foundation would be the conjuration school, with the properties of the teleportation subschool, no? Perhaps we can pour the essence of plane shift and the essence of greater teleportation into the device that stores magic and see what we get out of it, releasing that energy with the device that releases magic into one of the sphere, perhaps altering it's properties with the latent transcendent magic inside, although we might need to divide it evenly between all six of them as an equally probable possibility."

Chuckling to herself as she floats upon the sofa provided to her, Lemon looks around at the crowd gathered and the various tools in the area. Though making wild guesses was among Lemon's most potent abilities it was also a double edge sword. As she swayed from side to side in order to find a more comfortable air flow above the sofa she frowns ever so slightly,
"No one wants to play... What a shame," shrugging as she continues to sway from side to side upon the sofa she stretches her arms upwards almost seductively though she doesn't seem to wish to seduce anyone in the room. "I don't believe anything in here can provide much knowledge on the mannerisms of those orbs though it's always nice to try. Though we labeled this room as the 'Aether Room' does it actually base itself off of the Aetherlands? I still feel the limitations of mortality here in this pocket dimension, it might be wise to move over though I guess we're here to test the orbs without abilities beyond mortal shackles before we move on to higher fire power," she would say the last part with a halfhearted shrug.

I panic a bit as Miere reflects my bow back to me, clearly the man chose not to accept my unspoken plea of fealty to him, he intends to treat me as an equal, or worse as prey. As the oddly dressed nymph interrupts my train of thought with her question I suddenly connect her at once with the Peacock that I had seen strutting about in the tapestry of fate, in the next instant I find a name for the errant peacock, Lemon. Realizing that it is probably proper to reply, I raise myself from my bow and tighten my tie further around my neck, “Yes it was a bit suffocating to be trapped in my own skeleton for 3 centuries, but It was an invaluable opportunity to advance my own understandings of the universe further, I thank you sincerely for asking.” I furtively glance at Miere seeking a sign of approval, that my slow attempts to mirror his speech patterns had somehow endeared me to him, but am once again assailed by visions of death that force me to take my eyes away from him. As he thanks me for coming his pleasant tones remind me of the realities were that voice was the last thing I heard, I tremble slightly, I take the introduction as a chance to look deeper into the fates surrounding him, to the 1 trillionth reality where he died by my hand, but found nothing as always. A chill rushes up my spine, even as I mingled with great beings who had held my life in their hands, I had always been comforted by that one path to victory always lying ahead however slim, this was how I kept my sanity around beings like Char and Lazarus who were roughly 1,700 times more likely to kill me then Miere. There was no such path when I looked at Miere, none. In a practice that has become all too common lately I silently curse my powerless prophecy, as I try to warm the cold twisting in the pit of my stomach.
Coming out of my stupor I catch the tail end of an inane conversation about coffee, not wishing to give away my profound discomfort I add sagely “Coffee was often used by the tribesmen of the southern gnoll tribes to invoke states of meditative alertness after drinking hallucinogenic concoctions, to stay awake for the visions.” The patrons jeer at my social ineptitude in the back of my head, but I simply sit in the chair offered looking directly ahead, sure that I had meaningfully contributed to the conversation. I briefly glance at Miere’s posture as he sits, subtly mirroring it with my own, hopefully that should invoke a feeling of comradery in the man. I pull out my own essence of the one in a fluid motion as Miere speaks his piece, happy that there is once again something to build a common similarity and rapport between us. As Miere suggests to wait patiently I begin drifting into a meditative repose to do as he implied he wished, but quickly snap out of it, this is clearly a test by him! If I do not prove my worth immediately I’ll be redundant, they’ll replace me with a more attractive oracle and kill me for knowing too much. I hyperventilate a bit as I further extrapolate this potential future, following the strings of fate to their logical bloody conclusions, clearly this was the exact opposite of the time to be patient, my life is on the line!
Varians interjection is the prompt I need to spur me to action, as he finishes his own interjection I add my own“Excuse me” I say as a I politely stand up from my chair, I walk outside the portal at a brisk pace, blurring in an out of reality to my own library and back, I’m going to need a lot of materials for this undertaking. I return to the streets of clarion way in less then 30 seconds a veritable storm made up of 50 books, telepathically lifted, surrounds me as a quick stroll back into the Aether Room.
“I have returned with what I need to conduct my own share of the research” I point vaguely at the books around me as my heart palpates, hoping that this offering of knowledge shall be enough to forestall my death. “These books all deal with fictional and mythological events relating to travel between alternate realities each culled from different geological and temporal locations over the past millennia and beyond,at least tangentially. I shall look for the symbolical and numerological similarities between the tales.” I ponder for a moment wondering if they shall scoff at the further explanation of my work, before plowing on with my explanation “As I have discussed before narrative patterns are present everywhere in the universe, perhaps as a result of revealed truths found in the dreams and subconscious of artists, or perhaps because our own collective understandings of reality shape it in subtle ways, through the art of deciphering these connections which I call Placebomancy I hope to provide us with verbal components or at least the steps we will need to complete the spell.” I sit down and begin quickly reading each book in sequence, internally I pray to the patrons, the maker and anyone who cares to listen that this won’t be the final nail in my coffin.

Miere looked at Varian with another smile. "I actually still need to eat, a habit I've not gotten rid of. It helps keep me somewhat grounded. I can't say the same for Char, it does seem likely he'd be distracted on the way here but I've always found he can be remarkably single minded depending on the situation." he said, nodding almost to himself.
As he turned to Joy, he nodded again. "All plausible ideas, but I feel we may be getting ahead of ourselves somewhat there." Miere said as he leant back in his chair again. Spreading his hands wide, he elaborated, "It may be an idea to first test, in tandem with each of us, each various school of magic then combinations thereof. Each orb may have differing properties and until we find at least a strong correlation then any findings we garner from one may not apply to the others. Though your idea is a good one, starting with such relatively powerful magic, with no inclination of what there things can do, may lead to unfortunate circumstances."
With a slight glance at Robert as he quickly left, Miere issues his first slight frown, a hint of concern on his face as the man took part in the conversation in manner Miere found to be quite stilted and remarkably unnatural, or at least lacking in social aptitude. He resolved to ask Robert exactly why upon his return. It always paid to check, and though it seemed unlikely, Miere thought Robert seemed almost afraid of something, though he himself couldn't discern any malicious threat in those present. Perhaps slight languid apathy from lemon, but certainly no hostility.
"As for your question Lemon," he said as he turned to face her, "the room is indeed not connected to the Aetherlands itself. That would be the base for the second round of experiments I would feel, again to eliminate as many complications as possible before we start. After all, we deciphered the book to the best of our abilities without the aid of such a realm. However you are far more apt at finding the correct answer than I. Is there any methodology or guidelines you'd like to suggest?" With an encouraging smile, Miere gestured towards Lemon's hips.
As Robert returned with a veritable collection of books, all hopefully pertinent to the subject at hand, Miere nodded amiably at him and gesticulated in his direction, a movement to garner his attention. "Robert, are you quite alright? I appreciate you taking this matter seriously but it seems like you may be preoccupied. Is there anything you wanted to discuss? To clear the air, as it were?" Miere said, a friendly and welcoming smile on his face to ease any anxiety Robert felt. It was only a slight shame that the smile didn't reach Miere's eyes which seemed to calmly regard Robert, almost calculatingly. "I do hope we won't have any problems, hmm? A lack of trust in these circumstances could have some remarkably unfortunate long term implications."

I elicit a slight eek as Miere directs his question to me, I had gotten so lost in my books that I had almost been able to block the bad thoughts out for as second, I peek out at him over the cover of a particularly voluminous text I had collected from the oral traditions of the Yoruba tribe of Northern Alego. I sigh inwardly, I know that I'm a horrible liar, lying goes against my very nature after all, so I resolve myself to try to explain as best as I can, thought I know there is very little chance they will care of understand. As I prepare to go forward with my explanation I notice Miere's eyes cold and calculating as they were in countless visions, as he seeks of unfortunate long term implications I feel profane power flow to me from my patrons as they prepare me for fight or flight. With difficulty I calm myself down and manage to cautiously look Mierre in the eyes, to the sides I see once again the phantasms of the Would'vs Could'vs and Should'vs playing in the tapestry of fate. "Imagine if you would Lor- Mr. Klerin that every time you looked at a certain person you could see billions of amicable alliances, acquaintanceship and friendships and emerge, and thousands of instances of horrible torture, death and pain taking place at their hands, you to would find yourself lost in fixating on those statistically insignificant timelines no?" I take a sip of my tea from a flask, it's warmth helping to give me the courage to continue "That is my curse, in exchange for the ability to see the future and change it to an extent, I must watch constantly as it unfolds and collapses into impossibilities and different paths. Surrounded by powerful people as I am here my curse forces me to come to terms with the fact that even the decisions you make constantly subconsciously can change in illusory timelines, the ones you don't ever think about, such as to not be hostile or to not kill someone for minor infractions, unfold differently one time out of a trillion and that makes all the difference." I look down with a bit of shame "I don't wish to be treated differently or given lee way because of it, this is something I have dealt with since birth, and likely will always deal with barring deific intervention. I'm sure that my gifts of prophecy and my experience with the nature of reality make up for these quirks so please do bear with me." I try to say the last bit as a sort of stoic casual joke but fail miserably, I am sure it comes off as a desperate plea, I can't help it deep down I know that my greatest fear had never really been horrible death but being treated like trash, an invalid, someone unworthy of note, It was visions of those futures that truly stuck in my head, which left me shaken to my core, a son of Minderhal should not linger in self-pity, a son of Minderhal who is pitied is a failure.

Alby was tending to her library when she suddenly received Varian's message in her head. At first she jumped a little due to the sudden surprise of someone talking in her head, as she was not used to that kind of messaging. Alby had a bit of trouble at first trying to figure out who the voice was that was in her head as she had only met Varian once, when he took her to this new plane called the Aether. While sorting books and thinking hard about the voice, Alby finally remembered that the voice was that of Varian. She suddenly became a bit panicked as she had taken so long to notice that it was Varian, and she should probably have been heading to the location. She hurriedly grabs her equipment and headed to The Word on the Way to get to the Grand Library. Once there she got there, she went back through the portal and ended up in the Nyhavn University Library. She turned invisible in order to not disrupt the people who were reading or studying, and then ran through the library to get outside. (Telekinetic Invisibility stealths the sound she makes as well as her appearance)
After leaving the Library Alby thinks to herself, "Oh, I'm probably going to be late, I don't even know where this street is. I hope this doesn't make me have a bad impression on the others."
Alby then transforms herself into electricity and begins traveling around Nyhavn, leaving a streak of electricity wherever she passes, and tries to find the street that she was told to go to. After a few minutes she finds the street and begins flying down the street trying to find Varian. Alby soon spots a storm of books with a person she knows in the center and sees him walk into a door. Alby deducts that Robert is probably there for the same reason as she is and decides to head through that door. She rushes to the door and into the room. After seeing the others, she waves and says, while a bit out of breath, "Hiya! I hope I'm not too late."

Letting out a sigh as she sways floating above the couch provided to her, Lemon looks around at the newcomer Alby as well as Robert whom looks like he's prepared to wee himself at a moment's notice. Shaking her head she proceeds to continue the conversation with Miere,
"Sadly from what I'm able to gander, there is no knowledge known or lost, for the most part it seems we should purely go on experimentation and I know as much as any of you... though it seems you all seem to know more than me."
Providing a lighthearted shrug she opens her fan in front of her mouth and waves two times in an elegant manner. Her gaze looking around as they eventually fall upon Alby as she entered,
"Oh? Alby? The... kineticist? What a pleasant surprise," her voice curving almost seductively, "I'm quite sure you should be fine, there was no address provided and there was no time limit on the approach, It's such a pleasure to meet you." Almost as if singing the last bit she flies up from her seated position to waltz over to Alby, though her feet never touch the floor each foot movement seems to be walking and providing foot steps it does seem to be walking. "I've heard so much about you! Though we've met once, we never really talked. Are you also here to learn of the orbs?" Floating around Alby as to not bother her, Lemon keeps the fan up and around as she glides across the room.

Char had been wandering through Limbo for the past few weeks, literally and metaphorically. He had been wondering what to do with his life, he had no goals. He had left his mountain top home to get away from his psychopathic mother under the guise of spreading the family's influence. He really wanted to just get out of his house, and see the world, and do what he wanted but now he was one of the most powerful people on the planet in less than half a decade. He had no drive to really do anything anymore, he had once wanted to make Rebellion a weapon of legend but now that was done too, Char and Rebellion were known far and wide and in multiple planes.
Ring-Ring, Ring-Ring, Click. "Hello?" Char spoke when within his mind and awaited a reply. "Hello this is Haskalah, the god who created Varian. He made a wish for me to give you this message, 'This is Varian. We are preparing to experiment with the devices we found in the library. Meet me on Clarion Way in Nyhavn if possible' and that's it, cya." Char attempted to sigh away his woes, another 'problem' to promptly solve, his exhale was great but his woes were greater. "Yeah, cya."
Char actually didn't have a way to get back home, he had come here with Lemon a long while ago but the path back definitely wasn't the path back anymore and he couldn't cast Plane Shift. "Whelp, only one thing to do then." Rebellion interjected "You really need to find a better way to get around than this." As Char raised him up to his neck to chop his own head off, waking up in his bed to see his secretary Felecia laying down next to him looking at her self with a small mirror. She turned to face Char and then looked back at her mirror. "You were gone longer than usual, I had a feeling you'd be showing up this way." Placing a smug look on her face. "Yeah, I was contemplating stuff in Limbo and I didn't have a way out. So I just killed myself, I'm heading back out though, the usual. Try not to miss me so much that you end up sleeping next to whats basically my corpse creepo." Felicia lashed out. "I'm doing my job!" Char was already busting through the wall to head for the portal to Nyhavn but managed to shout out the last word. "I'm not paying you to stalk me!"
Char had arrived in Nyhavn "Now where am I going again?" Of course Char knew exactly where he was going, but anything to pad out the time in his mindbogglingly boring existence. "Dude, you're starting to make me depressed." Rebellion suddenly spoke out. "Let's just head there straight there, you like seeing everyone." Char sighed another deep sigh, he felt like a puppet with his strings cut. "Yeah, fine. Let's just go straight there."
Char ended up at the address Varian spoke of, and walked through a portal to see all his comrades discussing things that he was sure were super important. "He shrugged and started to walk over to his friends." He said out loud as he shrugged and looked over to his friends. He had accidentally let some of the madness slip from his mind as the person in his head who narrated his life suddenly ended up leaking from his mouth as he actually attempted to say 'Hey guys, what's going on?' but it was no matter, his friends all thought he was crazy anyway. "Hey guys, what's going on." The proper words actually coming out of his mouth this time as he ended his walk amongst the rest of the group.

Miere remained silent for a few moments after Robert explained his gifts. As the quiet began to stretch, Miere simply nodded. "Alright," he said, "thank you for sharing. That will indeed not be a problem for us, though you may wish to look into methods to narrow down the irrelevant nascent possibilities and futures. For your own sanity if nothing else." Miere turned from Robert to regard Alby after her sudden entrance.
Listening to Lemon interact with the newcomer caused Miere to nod almost to himself as he addressed her. "Hello and welcome. I must confess I don't know you as well as some of my compatriots here, but from your entrance I gather you've been invited by Varian. Miere Klerrin, at your service." As he went to continue introductions with Alby his attention was grabbed by Char's entrance. With a wide smile Miere stood and pulled a chair out for him. With a gesture towards it and taking his seat again, Miere then clapped his hands together.
"Excellent, welcome Char. As unusual as always. I'm reasonably sure with you here any sufficiently difficult to understand results can at least now be interpreted, in a way at least." With a look towards Varian, Miere inclined his head to the aetheric scholar. "With most of us assembled then, how would you propose we start the experimentation? We seem to have a sufficiently varied conglomeration of outlooks present now."

Varian had remained silently studying his notebooks as the others arrived. They would need implementations of all sorts of Pseudospells to really test the Fragments and he wanted to go over his figures once more as people arrived. The framework of these things was quite similar to how he had developed his own spells, but without some of the crucial elements necessary to make the spell work, like a target or energy expenditure parameters. He took note of Alby and Char's arrival and, double-checking his last note, he stood up and faced the group.
"Hello everyone, glad you all could make it. Since we really have no idea what sort of trouble we might be getting into while attempting to discern what these things do, I mean that sincerely. As Miere has suggested, it seems that the best course of action will be to lay out and cast a series of Pseudospells, which invoke similar energy to the spells of their respective school but without actually forming into a coherent shape. By observing what happens as we attempt each spell, it is my hope that some facet of this device's purpose reveals itself to us," he said, pulling a few components out of his backpack.
Varian distributed slips of paper with his calculations to each member of the group. "Let's begin with Abjuration and work our way downward. In three, two, one..." he said, then he began to chant the words, listening for other voices so that they could all get the cadence correct.
[Anyone with at least 1 rank in Spellcraft, please make a check. Varian's Check: vLxpvnej + 69 = 84]
[Also, to make it easier to read and understand, I'd like everyone to use the third person past tense.]

As Varian handed the paper to Miere he nodded in thanks and quickly looked over the calculations. Squaring the numbers as best he could, he waited for his cue and, as Varian began to incant, joined in as he began to channel and shape abjuration. It wasn't difficult to match his cadence to Varian and the others joining in since he was fairly apt at speech and mimicry.
(Miere's Spellcraft check at +42 - bMExxt4p That's pretty low, so Miere will reroll at for a total of 53) ·

Robert stares up from his pile of book as Varian hands him a slip of paper, he nod and attempts to invoke the pseudospell after some brief magical preparation and a bit of focused thinking. F1vEZnsT for a total of 102 spellcraft, he then seems to quickly flex his fingers and reapply moment of prescience.

Gazing around the room while she awaits for Alby's responce, Lemon would glide over back to the sofa after an adequate response. Gazing at Varian as he looks up and begins his long boring speech on our slow process, she simply nods her head in mild interest. Floating over to her own position in the group she begins flowing abjuration magic into the chanting doing her best to pretend to mimic everything correctly.

"This might be ill-advised for me to attempt, but if it's abjuration as you say, any unintended consequences should be minimal." Joy says as she attempts to restrain every fiber of her being to not automatically try to complete or fill in some pieces of pseudospell while centering herself. iTV7hIUe +26

Alby looked at Lemon and said, "Oh, hey I think I've seen you before. What orbs might you be talking about? I wasn't filled in on much, I just got a message to head here."
After Lemon's (presumed) reply, Alby just kind of stood quietly to the side of the room while watching the others perform their magic. She quickly pulled out what seems to be a journal and began writing information down in the book. Specifically, she was writing down everything that the others did, and plans to ask for a list of the spells they cast after they finished their magic.
