Amant, having planned meticulously for months, went in to the Golden Plow to see if anyone was willing to join him in taking down a nemesis, the bugbear Scarry, subjugator of the nearly goblin tribes. Thankfully a trio of rogues were there to answer his call. After describing the situation and job, the group sought to prepare for the ensuing encounters they would no doubt face in tracking him down. However, only Sev actually went out of his way to prepare by gathering additional supplies. Following Amant's reconnaissance, the group spied a group of goblin by a ruined tower. They could hear them chatting and could hear at least one refilling water canteens, though they couldn't see any of them actually doing that. Sev and Azraelle snuck round the back as the goblins spotted Amant on a bison, confusing them somewhat since they were in a forest. Taking potshots at Amant and the bison, the goblins were wholly unprepared for Sev appearing and shanking two of them, dropping one and sending the other into unconsciousness via his poisons. Unfortunately the goblin who had been refilling water was no slouch when it came to his confounding colours, and Sev and then Azraelle fell, spasming on the ground. The rest of the goblins continued to rain down tanglefoot bags and alchemist's fire on the rest of the group, though Amant eventually broke free and Katsu, once seen and stuck to the floor, quickly overcame the sticky bonds.
Katsu then decided enough was enough and opened his singular can of whup-ass, proceeding to kill nearly every single goblin and leaving just the singular caster to run in fear. Sev, sadly, remaining somewhat wrecked on the floor. Taking their captive, Katsu stabbed him through the arm and killed him, his questioning and interrogation skills somewhat rusty. Regardless one had escaped and was no doubt going off to warn Scarry, so the group quickly headed back to town to bring Sev back to full fighting strength. Taking another moment to prepare (and not doing so aside from Sev) the group subsequently headed out to where they felt they could ambush the Bugbear and his troop of elite goblins. Considering the ambush site, Sev decided to lace the area the enemies would be walking with explosive power, aiming to throw an alchemist fire on to it. Unfortunately asking the nearby goblin tribes for help didn't occur, nor did constructing any other kind of trap. Sev then lay in wait out of throwing range, overestimating distance. As such when the goblins and Scarry turned up and stumbled on to the trap, it wasn't even useful. Spotting Katsu hiding behind some bushes, the enemy got to work and charged closer towards him.
Thinking quickly, Sev began throwing smokesticks across the battlefield to cover his advance as the trained goblins bracketed the party and began wearing them down. Scarry proved to be every bit as dangerous as his reputation, harrying the group as the bison was directed by one of the goblins who had a talent for such things, sending it charging into Katsu's back. Amant quickly ran back to his bison to get it under control, only for Scarry to chase after him slam Amant into the ground. Considering their situation, the group began using the clouds of smoke as cover, Katsu acting as the perfect decoy and luring all the enemies in. From the cover of smoke Azraelle and Sev shanked the hell out of Scarry, Katsu adding in his own furious assault. The three of them proved too much, Scarry entirely unprepared for the sheer accuracy of their attacks at his vitals. With Scarry dropping to the ground at last Sev shouted in goblin that their leader was dead, prompting the remaining goblins to pretty much just shrug at each other and leave peacefully now their bullying master was gone.
Quickly checking on Amant, and finding that his bison had at least done something useful in keeping him alive and slightly cleaner, the group then travelled around the local goblin camps with Scarry's corpse to demonstrate that his rule was at an end. With a new wave of goblins heading to join Rook, the group considered it a great success and collected their trophies and pay from the Golden Plow, content that at least one Bugbear was now gone.
