Character Name: Rem "Ryder" Cailean
Description: Ryder is your average halfling, barely breaking three feet in height. She has light brown hair and eyes, and slightly tanned skin. She possess a love of travel and animals, and is happiest when upon the back of her trusted steed, Areion, charging head first towards adventure, and what is bound to be a great story to tell later.
Background: Orphaned as a small toddler, Rem was found and taken in by a community of forest gnomes. Showing an affinity for horses early in life, Rem was often simply called rider, which she would later change to Ryder, feeling that this fit and said more about her than a name given by people she could not remember. Life was difficult in Ryder's early years, as she faced much taunting from her peers due to a lack of magical knack. Unlike the gnomes whom she grew up with, Ryder just did not have the same connection to the forest and the wilds in general. However, the bond that Ryder possessed with her mount was just as strong, and indeed, some would say stronger than the bonds that the druids who protected the community had with their animal companions. Despite having no talent for magic, Ryder idolized the druids who defended her home. These gnomes, some of whom were smaller than herself, would transform into mighty beasts to protect those who could not protect themselves. And so Ryder trained in the only art she seemed to excel in, that of armor and steel. With the right weapon, armor, and her mount Areion, Ryder could be just as fearsome as the other druids, and during a particularly bad raid by orcs on her community, Ryder was able to prove her worth and ability. From then on, life within the gnomish community became easier, with people referring to her as The Ryder as a show of respect for all she had done. But, the halfling wanderlust eventually caught up with her, and Ryder set off with Areion in search of adventure. Ryder arrived on Rook purely by chance in search of this grand adventure.
