Makmour the Affirmer is tall and slender with shaggy shoulder length hair and brown eyes. His narrow face and piercing eyes produce a hawk-like visage. His dress is functional and restrained. He has a serious demeanor and very rarely smiles. He can usually be found studying some book of arcane knowledge.
Makmour was born and reared in a farming community in Oriar. He was short and thin as a youngster. He was constantly teased as a “scrawny runt” and grew up as a loner, spending much of his free time playing the recorder he had carved himself. He questioned every traveler who passed through about the outside world. When he was 15, he left his home and travelled to the city of Rook where he earned enough to survive by busking. Life on the street sometimes held its dangers. Makmour became ever alert and prepared for confrontation. He learned how to take advantage of every opportunity an opponent presented during those confrontations. A kindly old wizard named Rodkuniak who was impressed by the boy’s curiosity and resourcefulness took him on as an apprentice. Makmour was a natural at study and the arcane arts. He learned much from the old wizard. When Rodkuniak died, Makmour took up the adventuring life in hopes of becoming wealthy and powerful before returning triumphantly to his childhood home, where he can spend the rest of his life studying and teaching aspiring and perhaps misunderstood young wizards.
Rodkuniak gave him his nickname because he never takes information from others at face value but must explore a topic and come to his own conclusions. In spite of always coming to the same conclusions as Rodkuniak, he continued to check everything the old wizard said. Makmour keeps the nickname as a means of honoring his mentor.
