Heya folks,
Welcome to the March update. Here's a view of the main change to Dragonsgate - templates!
Templates
Template sessions are no more! Instead, acquisition works in this manner -
Acquiring a template requires a character to be level 12 and a downpayment of 50,000 gold. This is followed by an additional 70,000 gold paid over time by deducting 20% of a player's earnings from sessions.
Each template has 6 parts to it. The character gains -
The current templates are listed on the wiki, here - dragonsgate.wikia.com/wiki/Templates_for_Player_Characters
Since templates have been significantly simplified, and each offers a reasonable amount of customization and similar bonuses, we feel that players can now more aptly choose a template for flavour, rather than feeling forced to pick the one with the best stats for their build. Similarly, those who would rather not take one do not need to face a large upfront cost and sizable ongoing cost, thus allowing faster purchasing of magic items to compensate.
Due to the easier and less bombastic nature of the templates, there is also the vast scope for expanding upon the system and adding more. As such if you'd like to see anything specific, please feel free to post in the Rule Suggestions area.
Current Characters With a Template
If one of your characters has a template already, change the benefits from the old template to one of your choice. Ideally, this should be the same 'type', so Lich to Lich, Elemental to Elemental and so forth. If you feel like you need to change specific template, please PM me about it with your reasoning as to why the clearly thematic choice is now different.
As there is an increased cost of an additional 70k, you may pay off as much of that immediately as you wish. Any remaining cost will continue to be deducted from session gold at a rate of 20%.
As template sessions are no longer required, you also gain back the exp from any template sessions you may have taken part in.
So with this sizable change, here's to hoping that everyone can find a niche to change in to should they wish, unconstrained by builds and instead following character narrative!
Gamingly,

Each template has 6 parts to it. The character gains -
- An augmented subtype which is purely aesthetic,
- An augment representative of the character's new subtype,
- A movement bonus that is thematically linked to the subtype,
- A stat adjustment to a physical stat, a mental stat, and any stat of the player's choice,
- A special ability representative of the augmented subtype,
- A single immunity that best represents what the template is strongest against.
