I have asked this question before, and got opinions from other players, but I wanted this confirmed by the DG higher-ups.
The Flaming, Frost, Shock and Corrosive abilities share much of their text regarding their operation, as written below.
My question was about what happens when a new command is given to the weapon.
The Radio Button Interpretation: Whenever you give the command to activate an elemental ability, the currently active ability turns off. (For instance, if a weapon's Shock is active, activating Frost will turn Shock off). This allows you to pick an element for each encounter, but the damage cannot be stacked. From what I know about Paizo, they would likely go with this interpretation if asked.
The Check Box Interpretation: Giving a command to activate an elemental ability won't affect the state of other similar abilities. This allows one to deal damage with multiple such abilities. (If Frost and Shock are both active, the weapon deals a total +2d6 damage). As a result, it's possible that the only time the abilities would be turned off is to prevent the unattended weapon from being a safety hazard, or when fighting enemies that can absorb certain elements, such as golems. When I last asked about this, at least two people said this was correct (Ashphantom was one of them, I don't remember the other one).
So, which of these interpretations is correct?

Upon command, an [energy] weapon [receives an effect] that deals an extra 1d6 points of [energy] damage on a successful hit. The [energy] does not harm the wielder. The effect remains until another command is given.
