Wayward Troubles (Written by Bioa) A few days ago, on the 10th of Harvestmoon, the Wayward Path was attacked by adventurers. It was reported that during the middle of the day, several adventurers walked into The Word on the Way, a staging point for followers of the path, and began assaulting the young boy behind the counter and destroying books and bookshelves. A few of the adventurers, themselves beingmembers of the Wayward Path, even went so far as to head into the Grand Library in order to vandalize it. Fortunately, Pupillam, the Head Librarian, was able to stop the attack on the library and then went through the portal to deal with the adventurers in The Word on the Way. Pupillam managed to subdue the attackers and sent them to the Rook Guard to be questioned. Luckily the young boy, named Edward Terradin, managed to barely survive the attack and is now recovering.
Recently, we were able to hold a short interview with Pupillam in order to ask him a few questions about the attack. (Interviewer): “You are a huge supporter of adventurers, how will you head on knowing that you have been attacked by the group that you admire and even by some of your own members? Pupillam: “Ah, well. I do not blame the adventurers as a group for this attack, it was the act of a few and the rest should not be punished for this silly decision.” (Interviewer): “How do you know that your members won’t betray you again?” Pupillam: “Oh, yes yes, good question. Unfortunately I can not say that the members won’t betray the Wayward Path again. I am just moving on and putting faith and trust in the members that they won’t try another attack.” (Interviewer): “How do you think we could limit or stop these attacks in the future?” Pupillam: “Ah, another good question. I believe that what Rook needs is an organization that can keep the adventurers organized. For example, if the adventurers had badges that showed their strength and reliability, this might ease the minds of the many people of Rook. Being able to glance at someone and see that the organization has faith in that person would certainly improve the attitude of the city.”
As we were leaving Pupillam added one final message for our dear readers, “If anyone else wants to discuss the safety of Rook with me then just talk to Cecilia Maynet [at The Word on the Way], she is taking over for Edward for a bit while he recovers.” |

Cydo looks up from his copy of the newspaper. He didn't remember this many random adventurer attacks happening until recently. Maybe the newspapers were just lax on this sort of thing until now?
After thinking a bit, he comes to the conclusion that all those adventurers may be working for the same client, and that identifying and dealing with that client would help Rook's security greatly. Cydo heads to the Word base to ask Maynet a few questions.

As Cydo walks into the word on the way he is greeted by a girl behind the counter. Reference image for the girl. The shop is very small and most of the bookshelves are torn down and a lot of books seem to be missing from the shelves. The girl is messing around with various test tubes and after greeting Cydo she returns to working with the test tubes. |

Sana will be greeted in a similar fashion and sees the broken book store and Cydo standing there.

Cydo asks the apparent receptionist, "Hi, are you Cecilia Maynet? I wanted to talk with Pupillam about the attacks."
He then turns to Sana. "Are you here for that, too?"

The girl stands up quickly when Cydo speaks to her and accidentally spills one of the test tubes. "Oh, yes I am Cecilia Maynet!" The room begins to stink from the liquid that was spilled. "Oops... Well, I'll take you to Pupillam now and clean this up afterwards. Follow me." She leads Cydo to a back room of the shop and inside will be a large archway. Cecilia will pull out a book and present it to the portal which will then open. "Right through here, Pupillam is the tall man with a white mask and a jester outfit."

Sana "Yes indeed." She looks around at the broken furniture with a frown. "Who did this you miss? I am tired of this talk these generic 'adventurers' as if we are all the same."

Arenia storms in. "What. THE HELL? Happened?" Clearly, she is not happy about the news she has heard regarding her first allies from Rook. "Who's responsible for this?" She pays no mind to the people around her, noting their presence, but otherwise not addressing them.

"Well, you see, from what I've heard was that the people were the average adventurer such as yourself. There was no way to tell if they were here for a job and to help with the island, or if they were here to wreck our shop, which is what we know they were there to do afterwards." She says to Arenia and Sana.

Cydo will enter the portal Maynet provided, presuming that Sana and Arenia will follow. Once he finds Pupillam, he addresses him.
"You're Pupillam, right? I wanted to look into the adventurer attacks, and ask some questions. Is that fine with you?"

Cydo sits down with him. "Admittedly, I'm not sure what to do about it, although I have a feeling that the recent attacks in general might be the work of one organization, or that all those adventurers may be working for the same client."
"First off, some of the attackers of this place were Wayward Path members, according to the paper. How long have they been in the organization, exactly? It might shed some light on why they did what they did."

Arenia calms down somewhat in front of Pupilliam. "Yes, I agree. They went through an awful lot of trouble to cause this much havoc. There could be some connection between them, something in common."

Sana sits quietly, she listens carefully to what the others are saying before she speaks up, "Well I think we need to know who the adventurers are. Although I have been in Rook for less than a year now perhaps I would know them from being around the Golden Plow. I have a pretty good reputaion with the Rook Guard perhaps they would let me speak with them." (OOC: Thank you Mierre) She looks at Cydo, "I believe that you have lived here far longer than I, so of course you probably have more pull than I do."
