Royal Iron Under Siege

Today, on the 8th of Harvestmoon, Royal Iron reports it has lost another of its caravans outside the walls of our beloved city. This will make the third caravan it has lost this month. All three caravans have been reported attacked by humanoids, and their cargo pillaged.
One has to ask, is Rook experiencing an increase in Bandit attacks? Reports from the Rook Guard say otherwise. Our sources in the guards have this to say on the matter, “Whoever attacked these caravans were highly trained. You don’t see this kind of precision with bandits. Bandits have a more straight forward approach and they usually enjoy the killing and murder just as much as the loot.”
So who is attacking Royal Iron traders? Again we go to the Rook Guard in charge of the investigation, “Based on the evidence, I would have to say this is the work of Adventurers. The ones attacking the caravans are too strong and skilled to be your run of the mill bandits. They are also better equipped and more magically inclined then any bandit we have encountered?”
Why is Royal Iron, a company known for having close ties with the adventuring community, being attacked by those it caters to? There are many speculations going about, and some believe that the increased distrust towards adventurers in general might play a part. There is also the rivalry between Royal Irons and the agricultural commemorate owned by Bishop Fate. Still, until these adventurers are brought to justice it would be impossible to know for sure what the cause is.
Sarah Summerfield, Royal Iron representative, has this to say in response to the attacks, “Royal Iron does not blame the Adventurer’s community as a whole for these attacks. We still believe that adventurers are beneficial to Rook as a whole. We are saddened that some adventurers have turned to such illegal means to make gold, but we will not blame all adventurers for the actions of a few. Royal Iron will continue to support those that choose to take up the adventuring lifestyle and put their lives on the line to protect Rook”
With the increased animosity towards adventurers, this reporter has to ask himself, is Royal Irons trust misplaced? Many of our readers will know how the Gold Age of Adventurers has passed. No longer are adventurers welcomed in the streets, no longer are they greeted with respect. Now, they are spit on when they pass, and insulted just for trying to get a bite to eat. Will the anger cause more adventurers to turn to a life of crime and villainy? Only time will tell.
