SURPRISE ATTACK ON THE CHURCH OF CHANCE?
(Written by Invincabal)
What are the odds that the Church of Chance, one of the favorite spots for adventurers and citizens of Rook alike, would be assaulted by not one, but two groups of marauding adventurers? Unfortunately for those groups, they were quickly dispatched by the returning high cleric, the guards inside, and even a few patrons. While none of the patrons or employees were severely harmed, all of the trespassing adventurers were slain in the process.
We asked the high cleric, Rin, the founder of the Church of Chance, to comment on the situation:
“I just returned from visiting the Imperial city and was making my way back to the Church when I heard a commotion coming from the common room and saw a group of armed assaulters wreaking havoc in my temple, breaking my furniture, and assaulting my guests. I don’t know about other places, but I run a strict policy of non-violence in my church, and all guests, while inside, are under my personal protection. I only took the necessary measures to [prevent the slaughter of] the citizens under my roof.”
Our investigators at the Rook Times committed further investigation into this attack, and found that the second group was dispatched by the guards and other patrons that were on the second floor. We also asked if this attack was provoked by the Church's clerics that randomly attack random adventurers in random places at random times, and were only given this statement:
“My clerics are not breaking any tenants of the Church of Chance and while I personally disapprove of the attacks, I have had no confirmed reports of casualties caused by the Clerics. On the contrary, my clerics saved multiple groups that were losing their fights and even putting out forest fires caused by careless adventurers.”
While it remains unclear on who organized these attacks, it is sad to see the adventurers turn on Rook, and with recent reports suggesting similar assaults we must ask the important question again, how important are adventurers in Rook, and should they be left to their own devices?
