tl;dr Main wants a specific prestige class but is 1 session away from levelling. Class requires a ritual with a sphinx. What do (potential solutions below)? Does a character have to take 100% of the XP from a session?
My main, Crunch, is in a unique quandary where I want my next level (level 9) to be my first level of the Prestige Class Living Monolith, which has a very specific requirement of a Sphinx or existing Living Monolith performing a ritual for the new Living Monolith. Now, part of me wishes I could just take the class without really doing that ceremony and just somehow coming into that situation.
Realistically, though, it's a requirement for the class, so I feel it needs to be done correctly. The main issue is in GMs running a session specifically tailored to me gaining the respect of a Sphinx or other Living Monolith to the point where they'll do the ceremony. As much as I'd like to have this session happen and I can become a Living Monolith as a result of that session, this also depends on a GM being willing to run this session.
As such, I just want to bring this situation to the direct attention of other GMs and to the Leads. I understand that this kind of session may not be the most entertaining to make or the most inspired. In short, it would be meaningless to most other players and possibly the GM. I don't want my wants to be a drag on other people, but I also want my concerns to be addressed (as anyone who writes a thread does).
With the addition of the new Play by Post thread, this opens up the unique possibility of my character being able to, outside of a normal session, meet the requirements of becoming a Living Monolith. With that being said, this also requires a GM other than myself to facilitate this.
My main is also exactly 1 session away from levelling up (5900 XP, to be exact). If I want to hit level 9 as a Living Monolith, it'd have to happen soon or delay XP gain (addressed at end of thread).
The solutions I see right now are as follows, in no particular order:
1) An official Play by Post thread to allow my character to undergo the proper ritual to become a Living Monolith.
2) A normal session tailored to allow my character to undergo the proper ritual.
3) My character is allowed to become a Living Monolith without officially completing the ritual.
There may be a more elegant or simple or convenient solution I have not thought of.

Second, is a character required to take all of the XP from a session and apply it to their character?
For example: character needs 2900 xp to level up and a session rewards 3000 xp. Can player choose to take 2899 xp and not level up?
