I found this game a while ago, and it looks incredibly interesting. However, the fact that leveling is so slow and all character must start at level 1 is a huge turn off. I received an email yesterday asking for players to return, and I would do so, but the idea of starting at level 1 and needing to take 8 sessions to get to the general starting point (I've never seen a game start before level 3) is just too much of a turn of. Is it possible to implement some sort of jump start mechanic?

If you play up (which is nearly impossible to avoid) you can hit level 3 in 4 games, or 12-16 hours of play. We've had discussions previously about advancing the starting level, but they never seemed to go anywhere.
Also, to have it on the record, how fast or slow a person levels is entirely dependent on how much time they're willing to put into their character. During the more active parts of DG's history, we've had 3 games run in a single day; in a week we've had upwards of 20 games run. If a person had fit a character in to 10 of those games, they could have gone from level 1 to level 5 in a week.
Eventually, once fallout 4 and school stops taking up everyone's time, that sort of activity will be a common occurrence again. 34 games could put you up to level 13; if you're on winter break that's 3-6 hours of play per day for a month. Yes, a very large amount of time, but if you have nothing else to do it gets quite a bit more reasonable.

a level 1 playing in a 1-3 session will gain 2x the xp. this holds true at just about every level.

But the rules say there's an XP cap per session?

Yes, so a level 11 playing in an 11-14 will only receive level 13 rewards.

Gotcha, well in that case I'll write up a character. If I have a rules question, where should I post it?

You can hop into the IRC as well if you have any other questions.

It is not nearly as slow as it seems at first glance.
For reference, I got to level 2 in 2 sessions.
At this time, I am just over 50% xp needed for level 3 in 3 total sessions and that is with my party failing the objective of our 3rd session.
Additionally, I have approximately 2500gp wealth, which is more than double normal wealth for my level.
