So, yesterday we run into an issue with Gry, about the usage of 2 of my abilities. He ruled in favor me and I've tried to find out if the usage is legal. After reading the abilities, I'm also stumped which is actually correct. Even in paizo rules section forum that I've made a post opinions seem to be split. Thread is here: clickyIn the thread there are more details, but as a quick reference, the issue is this: Swash has two abilities that he can activate when attacked: Parry and dodging Parry needs to be called when attacked, but before the attack roll is made Dodging needs to be called when an attack is made against him One uses your AoO, the other your immediate action. The question is: Can I use parry, and if I see that I've rolled low, call my immediate action to dodge? It's not that crucial that I need to rely on it. And I will refrain to use this until I get an answer. But I would like a ruling to know if I can use it or not.

Hey Shroud,
My initial opinion would be that since both abilities require declaration when the attack is first made, you would have to declare both of them at that moment to attempt to use both. I'll bring it up with the other staff to see what they think.

actually having a few days to think this over.
my own opinion would be that no, you can't use it on the same attack UNLESS you specifically declare so before any roll is made.
so, one can p.e. declare both, trying to parrying the first attack and moving away from the rest of them. but he couldnt p.e. see if he gets the parry off, and if he doesn't then goes "eh then i'll move away"

I'll just call that the final ruling, then. You can use both, but must declare both at the same time(when an attack is attempted on you).
