For those of you who frequent the Golden Plow and other such establishments, you might have heard in passing about a few shops that have recently been sold throughout the slums. There is not much information about the change in ownership and the people that managed the shop are still working there, but a sign has been posted in the front of the store letting people know that the store has new owners.
If you were to take a little time to listen to this tales you might also pick up that some of the stores that had been bought were recently broken into. The information about the break ins is incomplete and only those that have actually frequented one of the stories would know about the break ins. Still this could be nothing. Trade groups come and go every day in rook and it’s not that big a deal if one has turned its eyes to the slums instead of the more populated Trade Center.

Bishop will come in nonchalantly into one of the stores and asks around for the manager.

The man at the counter smiles as a potential customer walked him. "I am managing the store at the moment. How can I help you? We have a wide selection of potions and gear for your everyday needs."

Bishop coughs a bit and says "while that is wonderful and id love to browse your wares I'd like to first see if I cant't get a meeting with your parent corporation, I have buisness I'd like to discuss" and he hands the man a business card from FateCo a company which was well known for produce productions before mysteriously closing 3 months prior. "This proposal will greatly benifit us both i am sure so if you can get this to him I would appreciate it." Says.

The man smiles nervously. "Oh yes, that is no problem. I will them know that someone is interested in getting in contact." The man takes the card and places it in his pocket. "I can't say when they will get in contact with you but good luck. Now are you sure you aren't interested in something for yourself? We got a new shipment of winter cloths recently. They are said to trap heat much better than some of the other styles floating around."

"Oh luck is always on your side when you have seen into fates tapestry, I personally have no need for such thing however I do service some employees who may require them in the winter months." pauses for a second and jots down an address "here speak to mauricio he provides employee uniforms, if he can vouch for quality and affordability, then I will contact you with further queries and details of orders" says this rapidly and authoritatively as if he said them countless times across decades. "Now then I look forward to your employers contact. I will be on my way bu I am sure we will meet again." then shifts into a translucent and rapid cloud from and slips out the door (as per wind form if he knows the spell)

Cydo decides to look into some of the places with new management, mostly so he's aware of them in case he ever has to visit them, but maybe he might hear some more rumors that would be worth investigating later.

If Cydo were to just go around investigating some of the stores that had been rumors to have been bought recently he will notice that most of them would deal in "adventuring apparel and accessories". There are a few general gear stores, a magic shop, pawn shop, and an arms and armament store. Nothing is too special about them. They have the same general appearance as most store fronts in the slums. They might look a little nicer than a few others but not enough to make them stand out. About the only thing the stores have in common is a small sign hung out near the door. imgur.com/iHVa5sl

After noticing that symbol on several shops, Cydo will try to remember if he's seen it in other contexts. If he doesn't recognize it, he'll head into the next store he might have long-term interest in (those that sell magic item upgrades, wands, or unusual arrows, for instance), hoping to find out or ask what that symbol is.
(NOTE: My Knowledge Local is +3: a 13 on take 10, or Shadowsharp can roll it at his leisure.)

Using his limited knowledge of the local groups and organizations in rook, Cydo comes to the realization that this symbol is completely new to him. He can not think of any information about a symbol matching it's description. Realizing that if he wants to find out more, he will have to go to the source. Plus it wouldn't hurt to find out more about a shop he might be able to use if he is ever in need of some adventuring gear or magical items.
Walking into the Magic Shop which is apply named, The Cryptic Mystery. The shop keeper is a old man who grins broadly at seeing Cydo. Cydo would notice that the man is missing quite a few teeth. "Well how you doing sonny. I see you found my little shop. Can I interest you an anything? We got a special today on Bags of Holding, only 2500 gold and a guaranteed surprise in every bag."

To Mr. Fate,
We thank you for showing interest in out organization but find that our interest may lie in different goals. We have done some research into you and your company and can not help but find your reputation questionable. Your known animosity with the merchant Bob is well know to any that wish to look, as well as your questionable habits during your forays in and out of Rook.
We also find your business interests to be a little to different to adequacy benefit from any dealings we might have. Your expansion into the agricultural and food market is well documented but not of interest to us. Our interests lie more in the production and selling of durable goods.
Again Thank you for your time, Magistrate of Royal Iron

Cydo pauses for a brief moment, looking at the pile of Bags on sale. He isn't quite sure what the shopkeeper means by "surprise," but he figures the answer to that question would be 'I'm not telling you, it's a surprise.' or something like that.
"I was...just looking around, although I'll probably buy something here later if I need it."
He turns back to the man. "There is something I was wondering, though. Several of the shops around here have the same symbol near the door. What is that, out of curiosity? I suspect it might be a corporate insignia of some kind, but until recently I've never seen it before."

The old man's grin drops a little. "Ah yes, you would be right. The symbol represents the Royal Iron Corporation. I'm not surprised that you haven't seen it before as the group is very new." The old man's is now completely gone. "Royal Iron helped me out a bit when I fell on some hard times recently. My shop was broken into a few weeks ago and who ever did it completely ruined my shop and took all my inventory. Royal Iron offered to buy my shop and helped with restoring my inventory. They even allowed my to keep working and living here." The man grins resurfaces. "Now my shop is back to a 100% and all I have to do it pay them a small amount for lease. I can't tell you much about the other shops I'm afraid. Don't really know much about them."

"Yeah, I heard that a number of stores have been broken into lately, although the details tended to be a little spotty. In any case, I'm glad your business was able to recover."
Cydo then thinks to himself, suspecting that the Royal Iron Corp might have been responsible for the rumored recent break-ins, but he doesn't know enough to be sure. He looks back up to the man.
"Oh yeah, do you know where the Royal Iron people tend to be? I might visit them later once I'm done window shopping."

The old man shrugs, "I couldn't say off the top of my head, they came to me with the offer you see. I didn't go searching them out. Couldn't really as I had no idea they even existed. Every once in awhile someone will come by from the organization and take the money I owe them for lease but that about it. Now are you sure I can't interested you in a Bag of Surprise?" The man offers as he motions to the display of Bags of Holding.

"No thanks, I'm still saving up money for upgrading my equipment. Although if you do item upgrades, I'll keep you in mind for the future. Thanks, though."
Cydo nods to the man and heads out. He doesn't see much else he can do in regards to figuring out what's up with the Royal Iron Corp, and he doesn't have enough reason to gather a team for anything, so he decides to, in the future, keep an eye out for anyone who might be coming into a Royal Iron shop (shop with the symbol near the door) wearing anything that might resemble an official uniform (not knowing what RI clothing look like, but maybe he can ask another shop owner later if he has to).

A few days later a man sits down next to Cydo while he is in the Golden Plow. He is fairly well build with short black hair and a few piercings in his ears. He sits on the stool next to Cydo and with little prompting and orders an ale. Once his order is taken, he turns to Cydo. "So I heard from a little birdy that you were looking into Royal Iron." He says more as a statement then anything else.

Cydo turns toward the man, not sure what to make of him. "Yeah...I have been wondering about them ever since I saw their symbol in multiple places."

You are able to determine that the man is just interested in finding out what you know. There is a bit of hostile intent but not enough to get the sense he is planning to fight you. It's more like the man is guarded, waiting for how Cydo reacts. He is ready to defend himself but not actually looking to fight.

"So, why do you ask?"

The man shrugs his shoulders. "Not a lot asking about the change. The owners still run the shops and not much has changed so most people don't make a big deal about who might actually own it. Not only that but a man who ask questions wants answers. When he can not get the answers from one source he might go to another, a less reliable source. I am just here to make sure you get your answers from the right sources."

"I'm asking because I saw their symbol on multiple different shops, thinking a new organization came into Rook. And with new organizations gaining influence, there frequently come changes in the status quo." "And you're right. There is still a lot I don't know yet. But if you're offering information...wait, who are you again? I don't believe we've met before."

The man nods, "Like Royal Iron, I too am new to Rook. You can call me West and you would be Cydo if I am not mistaken. Did a little research about you before I came to meet you." He then waves his hand to placate any comments Cydo might have had about this. "Nothing too in depth of course, anyone would be able to do the same just asking around. Adventurers lasting as long as you are pretty rare, especially those that like to take jobs way above their level. People take notice, and those people like to talk." He then grins at you. "Did you know there is a betting pool on when you are next going to die? Your making a lot of people unhappy since you have not taken a job in the last we months. Cost a lot of people some gold."

Cydo laughs for a moment upon hearing of the betting pool. "I haven't had much luck in finding them for a while. Either I thought I wasn't up to a task, or I thought that people would see me as too expensive. Although I will admit that a betting pool on my inevitable demise is kind of hilarious."
Cydo glances to the job board. "I'll keep checking the job board if you have a job for me, although I would need to get a team first before responding properly."

West grins, "No not at the moment. Royal Iron is still a fairly new and our resources are not enough to hire those of your caliber. We are growing so hopefully it will not be to long before we ask for your help. The main reason I am here it to get better acquainted with those in the adventuring business. Adventurers that last long enough usually fall into three categories. Those who are disliked but are too good at their job to not hire. Those who are mediocre but have strong enough friends to get them through. And those that are almost universal liked and carry a lot of influence. You happen to fall in the universally liked category and Royal Iron would be interested in getting into your good graces. You also happen to be one of the few that have shown interested in us. When someone like that takes an interest in us, it's only polite to respond."
