when selecting the starting extracts for an alchemist to know, do they all have to be lv one or does the intelligence rule of thumb already apply? it says on OGC that if you have an intelligence equal/greater than the extract lv +10, then you can learn it. is that true for character creation?

Fairly sure yes Hunterkiller725, based on the sentence 'An alchemist can also add formulae to his book just like a wizard adds spells to his spellbook, using the same costs and time requirements.' Captainflint I believe you're limited to the level of extracts you can use per the Alchemist 'Extracts per day' on the table here - www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/alchemist. The reference you see basically means if you were to gain access to 2nd level extracts, but only had an Int of 11, you would be unable to learn them. It's essentially like a spellcaster and spells.
