It's not specifically mentioned in the allowed classes, so I was just wondering if prestige classes from the core/alternate other Paizo materials are allowed. My first choice for a character is a rogue that eventually becomes an arcane trickster, but if that's not an option, I'd like to know now before I invest time in creating a more fleshed out character concept.

Prestige classes are fine as long as they don't rely on something setting dependant. Most people choose not to go for them because you get quite a lot for sticking with your base class and base classes tend to have a lot of built in variety with archetypes and class feature selection.

I like the idea of being sneaky and I really like the ranged thievery thing that the Arcane Trickster can do, which I don't believe exists for any other class or archetype. Vivisectionist Alchemist and Archaeologist Bard (the normal rogue substitutes) don't quite do it for me in terms of flavor or mechanics.
