Hagen, Primrose and Snivel were all at Lord Darynn's estate when Miere waved hello and informed them of another job passed on to him by some merchants claiming to be from the U.M.E. based south of Rook. Apparently they wanted a variety of materials used in the construction of magical items. The list offered involved pearls, a rare type of marble, several types of rare mineral and a selection of gemstones. The job detailed how most, if not all, of these were available in the Bay of Stars to the west of Rook. Thanks to a nicely promised payment the trio set off, briefly stopping by The Golden Plow on the off chance of meeting up with anyone else who had the free time to take on a paid job. Rainen was there as per usual and naturally joined up due to The Golden Plow generally being fairly quiet most of the time.
After traveling for several hours across some pleasant coastal countryside, the party arrived at the bay and were confronted with some exceedingly large rock pools and caverns that could potentially be flooded when the low tide came in. As such they set about exploring quickly, coming across a pair of reptilian humanoids relaxing in one of the cool rocky caverns. As they started in surprise, Rainen immediately tried to intimidate them as Hagen looked on in mildly angry disbelief at the action. Roused to anger by the senseless language, one of the two charged Rainen and missed before Hagen calmed the situation down using careful movements and universal body language. Rainen, managing to communicate in aquan, apologized and started to chat with them, finding out they were perfectly friendly to begin with and objected to people immediately being aggressive at them. The other went to examine Snivel, who responded in kind. Since this constituted perfectly valid flirting, the female lizardfolk wrestled Snivel to the ground. Knowing privacy was required, the party and other lizardfolk left that cavern to allow their romantic advances. Fade to black.
Eventually after another chat the lizardfolk wandered off down the beach and Snivel and his partner emerged unscathed. With the female lizardfolk chirruping a happy goodbye to Snivel, the party continued their exploration. A little light exploring found them some minerals and gems embedded in the coral and rocky walls and floor. Thus pickaxes were readied and with Rainen's aid weakening the rock, a sack was swiftly filled. They quickly came across an opening to another cavern and Rainen went to investigate with his glowing sword, shouting hello this time. This provoked the large and feeding Ankheg to attack, snatching the blue man up in its jaws and biting the hell out of him. Rushing in to his defence, Hagen and Snivel proceeded to chop it to bits but not before it landed an excellent bite on Hagen. Primrose once more provided hexing support and healing afterwards, before the party continued to look for rare materials.
The next cavern found them a very nice looking statue made of the type of marble they believed they were looking for. Though it was eroded by the nature of the sea it still looked impressive and heavy, sparkling from what areas were exposed. When Hagen went to move it however it objected, stepping forwards to defend itself. Though difficult to hurt and tenacious, the party quickly curb stomped the poor thing. Leaving that to carry back later, the party then went and investigated the deep pool and saw oysters and clams at the bottom, a perfect source of pearls. After a lot of arguing about who was most suited Rainen was involuntarily volunteered to enter the water. He had second thoughts after entering and seeing murky shapes, but by then the shark came and took a little nibble. Rainen hauled himself out of the water as he began to lecture the others about telling them so and started to rain(en) down cantrips on the two sharks that had appeared. A third however went and took a chunk out of his leg as he was still standing on the edge and he fell unconscious. Hagen did his usual thing of charging forward to rescue the blue guy and almost hacked the shark in half. Already beginning to go crazy due to the abundance of blood, the sharks then proceeded to rip each other apart in a series of vicious attacks whilst Hagen poked at them a bit.
Once healing was out of the way Hagen resigned himself to diving for clams and spent a while collecting a mighty 35 of them and emptying the nearby surrounding area. Opening them all revealed six pearls - more than enough to fulfill the last quota on their list. As such the party loaded everything up on their effective sled and hauled it all back to Rook, chatting amicably on the way. Once there primrose went to hire a cart and did so amirably, hiring just the cart and causing Hagen to despair at people who would hire a horse and cart without the horse. Never the less he and Snivel continued to haul everything on the cart back to the manor and after the contents were checked everyone was duly paid and treated to a remarkably nice meal of shark steaks and shellfish. It seemed the magical merchants were another step towards starting their simply enchanting business.
