Costs Incurred (for those who wish to track on own Player Haven thread):
Haro Okeme: 15gp steaks, ales and tip, 60gp 3 masterwork satchels, 20gp tip for information.
Players / Loot after costs:
Primrose: 300gp, masterwork leather satchel, potion of infernal healing.
Bailoch Granitebain: 300gp, masterwork leather satchel, potion of infernal healing.
Haro Okeme: 205gp, masterwork leather satchel, potion of infernal healing.
Rainen: 300gp, masterwork leather satchel, potion of infernal healing.
The quartet of adventurers were hanging out in The Golden Plow as per usual when a pair of merchants entered the establishment, claiming to be from the U.M.E. and looking for people up for paid work. They explained that they had various tasks to do in the city and thus needed someone to go to City Hall and file paperwork and license applications for payment in order to begin setting up an emporium, a service and veritable haven for items both expensively mundane and magical! Happily accepting a calmer job for one, the four headed off. It wasn't long before they were accosted by a trio of malcontents intent of stopping them and retrieving the satchel. Primorose merely imperiously told them to move aside and (with a 31....) they scuttled away, shocked and deeply scared by the young girl. It wasn't long before the group entered the Crown district and saw another suspicious trio. As one of them bumped in to Primrose and started to apologize, a second casually strolled past. Rainen realized she was no longer holding the satchel of paperwork and went to turn after the thief, who bolted. Though he let loose a torrent of magic missiles they failed to kill the apparent peasant and he melted in to the crowd. As the other accomplice fled there was just one man left.
Haru tackled the man as both he and the man called a guard over. Though Rainen's lies were convincing, the guard was slightly confused as the man appeared to be truthful about not knowing why he was being grabbed and that he had stolen nothing. Spying a bunch of similar looking satchels, and finding similar paperwork in one of them, the group stated it was a mistake and Primrose must have dropped her bag by mistake. As the guard left them alone due to no crime taking place the man headed off muttering about violent people. Haru shadowed him to a well decorated tavern and treated the man to a slap up steak meal whilst he asked questions. As it turned out the man had merely been paid to just stand there then walk forward when told to. As he was apparently telling the truth (and enjoying his steak immensely) Haru tipped him 20gp for the honest answers and rejoined the group.
Checking for the address of the building that was being purchased and partially rebuilt led the quartet to the centre of the Crown district and a large three story building that used to be a subsidiary bank - sold out to the Central Reserve to preserve gold and currency balance. A rather busy surveyor tersely greeted the party and subjected Bailoch to a small amount of disdain due to having to repeat his answer three times before it was accepted. Following his directions led the party to City Hall and they waited for a mighty 30 minutes before they got to see a clerk. He checked over the paperwork and all was fine till the last page. The signatures had been smeared with alcohol! Rainen, his arcane mastery clear for all to see, lifted the alcohol from the documents carefully and managed to leave the ink underneath untouched. With everything in order the reports were accepted and the party returned to The Golden Plow for a job well done.
As they arrived Haro challenged any individual in the bar to a skilled match of pugilism and a sprightly young newcomer to the city, Biggles the Goblin, gamely accepted. As they squared off outside bets began taking place before Haru strode in and landed a heavy hit. Instead of being damaged however, Biggles merely went flying and bounced back to his feet. This happened again and again, Haru unable to legitimately wear down Biggles at all. Scoring a few hits, Biggles started to receive cheers and shouts of support from the crowds, causing him to start tearing up with happiness at starting to fit in. Haru, warmed by such a display, essentially took a theatrical dive to the applause and cheers of the large crowd that had formed to witness the contest. With a happily sobbing Biggles carried in to the 'Plow atop the shoulders of men, a champion's cup was fashioned from a small keg and stein handle and was presented to the victorious little blighter.
When the merchants returned they were happy to pay everyone their due for accomplishing a job well done and promised to visit the tavern again in search of more people to complete errands for them for when the need would arise.
