Costs Incurred (for those who wish to track on own Player Haven thread):
Fin Ryder: 40gp potion of cure light wounds from Primrose.
Players / Loot after costs:
Fin Ryder: 640gp
Rainen: 700gp
Balvos Kazaris: 700gp
Deverdon: 700gp
Primrose: 740gp
Azziel Wolfpaw: 700gp
It wasn't long before the adventurers realised something was seriously wrong - guards were rushing to the Crown district looking harried and stressed. Following, they found that the Central Bank, holding much of the city gold reserve, was being attacked by a large number of individuals. Worse still, they had hostages! Finn proceeded to agree to help the guards for renumeration, as the guards were tied by red tape, unable to attack due to the hostages. Finn walked up and tried to reason with those inside. Unfortunately his lying was noticed pretty darn quickly and that avenue dried up. Several party members climbed on to the roof to have a look through the windows in the roof whilst the rest investigated the sewers to look for an entrance. Sadly no entrance seemed apparent. A plan was then concocted involving opening the doors and letting the guards fire in before moving in as a group, with ranged support on the roof.
This would have gone off without a hitch had Finn not been the only one who ran in. He was somewhat beaten up by a large angry man but managed to hold his ground as the rest of his allies casually walked in afterwards. Though a challenge, they prevailed and took out nearly everyone opposing them. This was made easier by a couple of the combatants surrendering. As they moved to pursue the masked man throwing spells at them they realised there was in fact a second wave. Running in to this nearly took out Finn a second time. Even so, determination and Balvos constantly healing saw them prevail.
Deverdon and Finn pressed on as stopping wasn't in their nature. The rest of the party however went outside for the free healing provided by the clerics with the guards. As such Deverden and Finn were utterly beaten in to the floor as they were on their own and outnumbered. Unconscious but stabilized, both were dragged to be part of the pile of unconscious hostages. Eventually the rest of the party moved to engage, realising they were without their two main sources of damage. This almost resulted in their defeat as a mounted halfling on a "dog" of some description managed to charge Rainen and do an obscene amount of nonlethal damage with a tipped lance.
Regardless, by pressing ahead the party were able to overcome the last few willing to fight and, with the help of guards, effectively arrested the remaining hoodlums still ransacking the vault. The young watch captain was so thankful to the adventurers for maintaining his job security, especially for accomplishing all of this with no civilian casualties, that he ensured they were paid a hefty sum by the city for services offered. A successful day, and the Central Bank was once again safe! Even so, thanks to some digging work extensive repairs are needed and it seems visitors and workers may be checked more thoroughly from now on....
