About me:
Taxi driver by weekend, but first and foremost a stay-at-home dad. I have two kids, and wish I had even 1% of their combined energy. That being said, while they play, I typically sit around looking for activities to keep my mind busy while watching them. That normally involves pondering new RPG scenarios. I’m an older guy, and I’ve been roleplaying for nearly 27 years, having started at the age of 9. I’ve played a ton of systems including D&D 1st to 4th editions, Paladium stuff, Rollmaster, GURPS, Whitewolf stuff (Gypsy, Hunter, Mage, Vampire, Werewolf, Wraith, etc.), d20 Modern, Rifts, Shadowrun, and the list goes on and on getting fuzzier and fuzzier in my memory, but the system I’ve enjoyed most is Pathfinder. My other hobbies include writing (nothing published.), MUDs (online text-based mmo’s), comics, computer/video gaming, reading (sci-fi, fantasy, other) and cooking. That sums me up as well as any paragraph can.
Strengths:
Spontaneity: After you’ve played so many games as both a player, and a GM, you can pretty much do anything off the cuff and keep it fresh and interesting. In fact, I’ve run entire campaigns without so much as a single minute of prep. (Those have been experiments, and have turned out surprisingly well, many of my players didn’t have a clue that I hadn’t ‘prepped’)
Storytelling: I live for the stories, and they are what draws me to roleplaying. I try to take character story into consideration a lot in my games (given prep, or spontaneously with inspiration!) I like when each character finds their place in a story, and has a chance to affect the course the party takes towards the completion of a storyline.
Time: As I stated in my personal background, I am a SAHD, and have tons of time on my hands. I hope to put a lot of time into my maps, and story arcs, but also run frequently.
Weaknesses:
My only weakness is that I have too many strengths. J/K.
Gaming Confusion: I am old, and have played many different systems. Sometimes I am found very guilty of using old rule sets from 3.5, or hell, I even got busted using a 2nd edition rule like a week ago. I don’t want to give the illusion that I do not know the pathfinder rules, it’s simply that from time to time something from 3.5 might confuse me. I welcome players to clear things up, and I honestly learn very well from my mistakes seldom allowing the same mistake to be made again once it has already horribly embarrassed me.
Roll20: Not very familiar with roll20, but I hope to remedy that with more games. I have been doing some practice, and I tend to pick up things in general pretty quickly. Thankfully there is a wealth of players who have been very helpful in teaching me about the site.
Quiet: My voice is naturally kind of quiet, and I have some very minor hearing problems. I assume it wont be much of a problem since volumes can be adjusted easily on ventrilo and I am familiar with walking people through the process.
