Attention Adventurers!
Rook needs you once again. We seek able bodied men and woman, tested by danger and familiar with blade, bow, or spell. Those interested in serving your City-State, while making good coin, report to the Rook Military Headquarters at dark fall on the second day of Winterfest for a briefing on the task. Those accepting of the task are to be ready to depart at the following dawn. A successful journey should find you back at Rook in time for the final day of Winterfest.
Respectfully,
Commander Pheron Mar
So read the postings throughout Rook. And so on the second day of Winterfest, as the dark fell, eight brave souls arrived at the commanders office. Word is, some of the leaders of the followers of Tog Nar Sok Ti had been taken, dragged into the mountains and held there. Commander Pheron Mar would have the adventurers free them, and return them to Rook for discussions about possible ways forward.
The journey was a long one, two hundred and forty some odd miles. But Rook wasn't alone on this one. The Elves of the Verdant Realm would assist. Two hundred and forty miles? A mere four hours with the right spells.
The would be rescuers landed in the northern reaches of the Verdant Realm with plans of traveling north west into the mountains. An Orc raid delayed them but only for long enough for the adventurers to slaughter them and warn the nearby villages. Off to the mountains they went were they were met first by a group of watching Ogres and then by another who planned an ambush. Both encounters were won by the party but in each the cost was steep and resources were burned.
Finally, they arrived at the cave. A quick scouting by the mighty Hero of Rook and his pet Goblin revealed what lay inside. There was no chance for parlay it was determined. And even if there had been, no one was really so inclined. Again the heroes were victorious but again the victory came at cost. While grievous wounds were had, at least all would live to tell the tale.
The return journey was largely uneventful and thought it took two days to do so, the Elves returned the Rookians and Orcs to Silverstone Manor, where they would find safe haven for discussions.
