Character Name: Hayden Hailean
Character & Description: Of average height, Hayden's svelte frame gives off an aura of almost unnatural grace. He's the cheerful image of good health, long before his constant heavy drinking will take its toll. Fond of dressing in functional, but highly stylized clothing, you'll likely find him devoutly worshiping his god on any day of the week. Luckily, Cayden Cailean is more than happy to accept worship in the form of drinking contests and bar fights. Hayden is:
-quick to bore
-undisiplined in anything that doesn't involve drinking or fighting
-a little slow on the uptake, but is often full of insight beyond his years
-has a strong sense of morality when it doesn't involve property
Background Information:
Born in Hermea, to a mother who died bringing him into this world, Hayden and his father were exiled from the island out of fear that the complications of his birth were a genetic flaw.
Utterly crushed by the turn of events, his father turned to drinking, though that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Having to support himself and a child, he opened an inn.
Though Hayden isn't his birth name, his real name never failed to dredge up painful memories for his father. The father's drinking buddies noticed this, and in a clever bit of drunken trickery, got him to agree to a bet where the winner could rename the child. Being one year old at the time, Hayden Hailean didn't mind.
Hayden was raised almost exclusively by the staff and patrons of his Father's Inn. Waitstaff and travelers, as friendly as they were to the child, taught him more disreputable things than any 10 year old should know about, and Hayden regularly found himself getting into trouble and picking pockets. After some brushes with the local guards, his dad decided to do something about it. In an attempt to straighten the boy out, he was sent to become a monk at a monastery. The only reason he lasted as long as he did was because of support and friendship of the head monk, a Martial Artist who wasn't as fixated on tradition and poverty as his peers. Though Hayden enjoyed the physical training and spiritual lessons immensely, his lack of discipline and penchant for getting into trouble meant it was only a matter of time before he would run off. This was especially clear to his teachers who regularly found Hayden breaking his vows, spending the little money he could scrounge up at the bars in town, and convincing other students to do his chores for him. One day the head monk's old party members showed up and asked if he was interested in coming along an adventure again. Though he was too busy running the monastery to drop everything and go, he saw this as an opportunity for Hayden to sate his wanderlust and suggested he go instead.
Several years of adventuring later, Hayden's taken to the sword like a fish to water, and applies his monk training to his self-developed technique. He's arrived at the city of Rook in his travels, and hopes to add more stories to his roster.
