Character name: Gimble Gunnelgar
Character & Description: Gimble Gunnelgar is a Druid known as a "Slime Mystic" among Swamp Gnomes. Unlike other Gnomes, Gimble is quite reserved and quiet. He does still have the quick wit and cunning nature of the Gnomish race, but lacks the pizazz that normal Gnomes bring into it. He and Biggin are best friends, and mostly inseparable- Much to the chagrin of villages he's attempted to enter.
What do you look like, how do you dress, etc.: Gimble Gunnelgar is a Swamp Gnome. His skin is grassy green in color, with his hair matching as a deeper, forest green. He is fairly average height for a Gnome, but rail-thin in comparison to others of his kind. His hair is long and shaggy, and he has a huge beard that would make a Dwarf grudgingly admit that it wasn't the worst beard ever. The beard is also kept shaggy, but small bones and fetishes are braided into it here and there. He wears crocodile skin armor that's made very roughly, and has a huge chunk of wood reinforced with stone that he uses as a shield. He has a few pouches filled with Druidic gubbins needed to perform rituals.
He has a companion- Biggin! The Giant Frog! Biggin is his lovely companion that's been with Gimble for as long as he can remember. Biggin looks like the dwarf-sized version of a Tomato Frog and generally is an affectionate being- However, Biggin IS combat trained, and Gimble always packs a spell or two to give Biggin a bit more ferocity when needed.
Background Information: Slime Mystics like Gimble are hermits by design- They live away from the villages that swamp gnomes usually set up. Slime Mystics prefer to be alone with nature, perfecting their rituals, writing scripts, speaking with animals, and other druidy things. They only really come back to the village to defend it if there are attackers, or- uncommonly- to pick up supplies that they cannot scavenge in the wild.
One day, Gimble was coming into the village with Biggin. The villagers who were normally warm and welcoming of the Druid were all cold, and distant. They urged Gimble to the lake in the middle of the town and Gimble, suspicious but unwary, agreed. In the middle of the town in the massive lake sat a bloated, alien fish/whale looking thing. As Gimble's eyes fell upon the creature, he felt his mind blank completely. He felt himself being taken over, and it was hard to resist it's pull!
Somehow, Gimble broke free of the creature's telepathic line and fled the village instantly. He didn't stop until he was far away at his hut. He'd collect what he could and leave, knowing that the Swamp was no longer safe- Not with that thing around. He promised himself that one day he'd come back to save his kin in the swamp, but knows that he might not be able to break that telepathic bond a second time...
