Finally they got the summons. The time was right. Into the Mistvale mines they would go to discover the source of the mist, and stop if if they could. Thanks to Ganderlay's amulets the party could enter the mist unmolested and thanks to the reports of Finn, they knew at least some of what they would likely face. Sure enough, a tainted goblin and many of the strange purple creatures awaited them. So too waited a few corrupted archons as well as a strange sluglike burrowing creature.
At the bottom of the mine, where they faced the sluglike creature and a handful of the almost reptilian, purple creatures, rested a collection of what were identified as portals of some sort. Pools of silvery liquid. As some of the creatures fled they retreated into one such portal and the brave (stupid) Walter dove in after them. He surfaced somewhere else. A strange, rocky landscape with a purplish sky, little light, and lots of mist. Walter could tell that here the amulet did him no good and could sense eight presences attempting to invade his mind. Immediately he dove back down and when he surfaced he found himself back in the cave with the others.
At this point the party realized they had problems seeing through the mist, something the amulets were supposed to have helped them with. Assuming that meant the amulets were failing they left as quickly as possible. Two days later they arrived back at Silverstone manor explained to Ganderlay what they found. He mentioned he'd take a team to explore now that the mist seems to have been stopped, with a likely goal of closing the portals down.
