Our team of somewhat moral mercenaries begins in the golden plow, and overhear Lord Darynn's mine foreman, Micheal, sobbing about his misfortune into a mug of ale. Curious about his situation, Jhuriel and Ben inquire about his state. He informs them that he was once a lord of rook, but when he went to marry a lady, a background check couldn't confirm that he was the rightful heir to his land and titles. He informs the party that the documents to prove his blood right could be buried with some of his ancestors in his family tomb, but he can't access the property as it's passed to a distant noble family.
The party heads to the estate in oldtown, with promises of a reward if they can find his papers and restore his estate to his name. Ben attempts to convince a guard to give him a key to the estate, but the guard informs him that he doesn't want to get caught in between nobles, at which point Ben informs him he needs to go into the estate anyway and the party clambers over the fence into the building.
Eventually the group finds an above ground mausoleum, and eventually manage to pick the lock on it to descend an oddly long staircase into the earth. Inside they find a crypt guarded by traps, locks, and strange clay soldiers that they managed to walk into all of, struggle to pick, and walk at respectively. Eventually the party finds a series of chambers containing hundreds more clay soldiers, with some sort of blood seal that allows a member of the family to command them. After finding Micheal's Chrisnof's papers, they exit the crypt, immediately being greeted by a squad of guards who ask them what they think they're doing trespassing and graverobbing. The party convinces the guards that they were legally allowed there, since the papers proved Chrisnof the rightful owner and he had given them permission. The guards ask to see the papers, and find this all fairly reasonable, so they take the party to Commander Bergstein at Sabien's request, and tell him of the clay army. Commander Bergstein allows Micheal to maintain control of the family "heirloom" but has him not so subtly forced into command for the rook military, with all the penalties for disobedience that entails. Used to a military life, Micheal is a bit reluctant, but eventually agrees to join the military again.
Sabien and Ben ask Command Bergstein to tell the common guards to not trouble either of them overly much due to their appearance, which he agrees to, and he and Micheal both send them a payment for the services they provided in bringing the army to his attention and restoring his name, respectively.
