Player Loot:
Char: 4 Influence.
Joy: 4 Influence.
Arlen: 4 Influence.
2 Influence base, +2 for finishing off the merchant and his daughter.
The trio considered their options. With the merchant and his daughter gone and with not many leads, it seemed like a new approach would need to be taken. After asking around and checking with the locals, it emerged that there were two likely good points of contact - a property baron who was rumoured to be wanting to reclaim some of the land sold to their target, and a merchant who dealt in employees, who had greatly staffed much of their target's various companies. After evaluating the options, they opted totalk to the property baron first. It didn't take long to find one of his estate agents where the group conversed with one of the attendants inside. He at first seemed skeptical, but was eventually won round into forwarding them to the baron himself. After they were led upstairs they found that the attendant they had been speaking to was in fact the baron himself, and he duly listened to their proposition, suggesting a trade of the information in exchange for a heads up on being able to regain the property ahead of the competition. This seemed agreeable, though when he called one of his business partners, a contract devil, Arlen simply refused point blank to be part of yet another contract and prompty left after a short conversation which confused the devil more than anything else. Regardless, Joy was happy to sign, since the contract was specifically worded in such a way that Joy couldn't actually be negatively affected. After signing the information on the merchant's probably boltholes was handed over and Joy and Char quickly caught up with Arlen, explaining the situation and plan. It was a relatively short task to locate the main hideout with the good information they'd gained and the various escape tunnels were blocked with cave ins before the trio went down the main entrance.
It took some effort, not to mention multiple disintegrates, to get through the doorway but as they did they were confronted with a small host of well armed and armoured soulders, backed up with daemonic support. Of course, Char caused one of the Daemons to turn into a fine red mist, at which point the soliders decided they were definitely not paid enough to deal with this. When given the go ahead, they ran. The remaining daemon, who had been threatening the soldiers to fight, also settled down once the trio pointed out it's captor was going to be executed. It was more than happy to be set free, much to Arlen's consternation, and let them past. The entire bunker complex was furnished and decorated like a luxurious mansion and soon the group found themselves at the main doors to what was likely the last refuge of the merchant and his daughter, especially as they could hear the pair from inside. More effort allowed them to get through the door, and though the merchant was able to hold out for at least the first few seconds he was swiftly overwhelmed by the sheer force of the assault. The daughter also went to fight back and hit far harder than expected, but she too was taken out. Since they had learned she was constructed artificially, Char went to restore her, only to realize that as a sentient wax golem her emergent mind was utterly gone, and her repaired body was nothing more than an automaton. Regardless, the room was sufficiently canvassed for valuables as the group were satisfied that they had fulfilled the original contract. The information that the merchant was eliminated was passed to the property baron, as were the deeds to the property taken from the bolthole which frankly made his month, let alone his day. Though the 'angel' who had contracted them had yet to show, it seemed like their task was indeed over...
