Primrose: 1050gp
Lorek Ra'dari: 1050gp
Rainen: 1000gp
Ben Weese: 1000gp
Snivel: 1000gp
Primrose and Snivel, going about their business at Lord Darynn's estate, were called in by Lord Darynn himself and offered a letter from an old compatriot of his, inviting him to a masquerade ball. Since he was blind and not the most social of people, he felt passing it on to those living within his manor was apt. It detailed two addresses - a mask store and costume store with the old friend. On their way there they encountered Lorek, who was only too happy to tag along after hearing of the ball. Arriving at the mask store, the trio found Rainen who had just coincidentally bought a mask. As they went in and bought various masks, Ben spotted Rainen on his travels, since Rainen was bright blue, and wandered over to check what was going on. With the group now effectively assembled, they headed to the second address and heard how a masquerade ball was being held but more guests were required. The man was purposely vague about how they should be acquired in the two days leading up to the ball, so everyone generally defaulted to hiring them and/or bribing them with the promise of free food.
As the due date arrived, everyone visited the opera house in the Crown district and were subjected to a pretty jovial affair with adequate food and drink, provided free of charge to those who turned up in costumers and masks no matter the social tier. It was a true mixer after all. Several of the party felt that something was subtly off about the party however - illusions laced the area, and the quiet sounds of eerie violins and crying emanated from below. Snivel, fairly angry in general, led the way and everyone went downstairs. Noticing some steps were slightly odd, Lorek and Rainen stopped Snivel from stepping on it, revealing that images had been laid on top. Primrose went to poke at the step but merely froze in place for a while before revealing that inset in to the floor was a gelatinous cube. The cube was summarily dispatched, as was the next though Snivel fell in beforehand, lightly burning himself with acid in the process.
Once they got to the bottom after a bit of a winding trip they heard the crying far louder, and were confronted with a rather large individual. The horns, ape-like face and ursine body suggested it wasn't a normal person. The conversation started off on the right foot, then Rainen decided to turn it's horns pink for no reason at all, angering it immensely out of principle. As a group, everyone worked together and sufficiently debuffed the thing to make it's attacks largely inconsequential, with Snivel eventually cutting the whole thing in half. Investigating the crying, Ben saw a disheveled woman in tattered clothing and mask, flinching back. As he advanced on her and interrogated her in a threatening manner, she continued to cry. Snivel went to stop him, noticing that Ben had frozen in his tracks, and placed a hand on his shoulder to restrain him. The rest of the party then noticed Snivel had stopped moving too. Lorek and Primrose, dredging their knowledge, reasoned that the masked woman was likely a medusa, so put on their gogglesand wizard hats and backed away, Rainen following suit not long after.
Clearly distressed, she lashed out at Rainen and stabbed him slightly before Lorek's summoned skeletons clawed her apart. Since the statues didn't get any less statue-like, Lorek, Primrose and rainen went up to enjoy the ball. Rainen, for some obscure reason, summoned a pair of ice elementals in the middle of the room to have them dance, in clear view of pretty much every social strata of Rook, when he was clearly a blue guy. Blue guys are naturally uncommon in Rook. Realizing his social faux pas, Rainen went invisible, changed the colour of his hair, skin and clothing and re-entered as a 'new' person. The next morning the group went back to collect the statues and took them to Ploatus, who advised them that his concoctions weren't quite that strong, but he had a regular customer who could help. Rainen had to leave, so Lorek and Primrose carted the statues the the little chapel they were directed to, which seemed to be devoted to Asmodeus, of all gods. The bland and average man inside was only to happy to hand out pamphlets and channel the powers of his beliefs to break the enchantment upon both Snivel and Ben, who were both mildly disorientated after returning to normal. Lorek and primrose, ever resourceful, decided to go back and retrieve the medusa corpse and sell it to Ploatus, who bought it more out of a case of curiosity on the hair snakes than anything else, and everyone generally went away quite paid and happy.
