Arlen, known for his charitable work and reputation, was approached by what appeared to be an angel regarding the elimination of a remarkably evil person and his operation. With a few quick messages Arlen was able to assemble Char, Joy and Robert, who all listened with interest and growing suspicion to the deeds of the man they were assigned to destroy. What raised their suspicion ever further was the stipulation to utterly destroy the man in a manner that would prevent his return at all, plus the additional tasks of killing his wife, three children and razing his home and business to the ground. It was determined that upon the man's death the slaves he owned would revert to the state so they wouldn't have to be killed, but Arlen found the entire endeavor shocking and somewhat distasteful. Robert, deeply suspicious and not wanting to be involved in such acts, directly at least, took his leave and returned to his home. Somewhat numbed for words, Arlen allowed Char to do most of the talking, establishing the base requirements. Once everyone had agreed, the angel produced contracts to exemplify their verbal agreement, handing each a copy. Rubbing a healthy amount of lavender between it's fingers, the angel left with a flash of definitely not brimstone, leading Char and Joy at least to question the actual form of the angel. This was only compounded by his personal secrecy and refusal to answer basic questions, such as "Why aren't you visibly good?" Regardless since an agreement had been struck, though Arlen was still reeling from the implications, the group discussed their method and potential ways to get out of the contract should problems arise.
With Char keeping Robert informed, the man decided to come back under a veil of secrecy so he could at least help his allies, if not visibly so. A swift teleportation later and the group were in the lands of the man's home, the UME. It seemed like he was well regarded, for his home was indeed the biggest property, and rumours certainly did abound concerning his devil and daemon summoning. So far it seemed as they had been informed. Asking around, the group soon found his place of work, going in to sort out an introduction. The receptionist there seemed intimidated by Char, considering he was on fire, and encouraged him to sit down even as she sent the message as he requested and also summoned security. The security looked like a fairly bulky man in well made, yet plain and almost featureless, clothing. With his face covered and golden eyes, his appearance cowed all the other waiting merchants who left as politely as they could over the next few minutes. Robert, who was waiting outside, maintained a vigil on the man's property to ensure no one openly tried to sneak away. Once everyone had evacuated, Char decided to try going outside too, since Robert had confirmed he'd seen no one leaving. As he and Arlen did so, Robert realised that the entire place had been superbly masked with some form of veil, as he couldn't see them either. As he broke his way through the illusion with sheer will, he noticed a flicker of movement on the target's roof and as such went to investigate.
The security, following Char and the others to the door, followed orders and removed his scarf to reveal a horrid visage which petrified Dawnfeather instantly. Reacting even before Char, he unleashed a massive charged blow that blew Char's astral form to pieces, leafing the tiefling suddenly waking up at home. Arlen, steadfast in the face of such overwhelming evil, stepped up and stood his ground, weathering several attacks as Joy worked to whittle the daemon amalgamation 'thing' down. Robert, deciding that he really was needed at home as it was 'gosh, look at the time' o'clock, returned home and keep in communication with Joy just to make sure the group were fine without him. Char quickly made his way to an old ally and was restored, teleporting in to where he had been and surprising the daemon with a savage attack that ripped it asunder. As the trio of Arlen, Joy and Char regarded their next move, they were certain of at least one thing - the merchant they were after certainly had a lot of resources to play around with...
