Player Loot:
Faelyn Lenci: 750gp
Hector Lefarum: 750gp (Had a potion of cure light wounds stolen)
Kite Windstrong: 750gp
Ben Weese: 750gp
On his travels, Faelyn was contacted by a half orc merchant going by the name of Mhorgahl Trevair, acting on behalf of the burgeoning goblin population of Rook. They were looking to hire, since it had been a couple of months since they'd moved in and they were looking to rescue the next generation to come and live in Rook. Since it paid reasonable coin, Faelyn popped over to the southern slums to hear more of the job offer before visiting The Plow to see who else was available. Finding Kite and Ben, and gently ignoring Hector who followed anyway, he and the trio headed back and heard the rest of the job. Being paid 150gp in advance, they were promised a balance payment of 250gp after the task was done - going southeast to where the goblins had been before and taking out the newest bugbear chieftain who was oppressing a bunch of goblins comprised of no more than 10-15 warriors and a bunch of young runts. Since it seemed entirely reasonable and not too hard a task, they went off to hire a cart and two horses. Kite noticed a peasant looking shifty and warned hector before the man bumped in to him. Reacting quickly, Hector pinned the guy and Kite searched his pockets but he seemed genuinely sorry, having not looked where we was going, and so they let him go. It wasn't till much later that Hector realised a potion of cure light wounds has been stolen from him. Whoops.
After hiring the cart and horses the quartet made good time, eventually coming across the statue and ruined building full of water that they'd been told of. Kite keen almost-elven sight and hearing let him know in advance goblins were around, and thus Faelyn offered the option to surrender. This wasn't taken and Hector was shot at a lot but mostly nothing happened. Eventually the goblins were taken down, and by 'eventually' it was actually pretty quick. One of the goblins, before perishing, had blown a signal whistle for help. That help arrived as a pair of goblin dogs, charging in only to be cut down. After the party caught their breath, even though they were actually perfectly fine, another pair of dogs appeared and were a gentle nuisance till they got cut down.
Heading southeast for a further 20 minutes saw the ground find the tower. All attempts to be stealthy and sneak up were wasted as Ben casually walked forwards, unsure of what sneaking meant. The bugbear, a goblin and his faithful goblin hound all saw them clearly and went to attack, only for Faelyn to just stick them all to the floor with a conjured web, at which point they were quickly dispatched. Opening the door, a goblin stepped out and managed to avoid getting stuck, whilst several others clustered behind to see what was going on. Faelyn once more offered surrender, prompting a discussion which resulted in the web fading away and the 6 armed goblins emerging, leading around 15 young runts. Hector, trying to help, scared the crap out of them all and undid all of Faelyn's work, causing them to rush inside the building and slam the door. With a bit of bargaining, Faelyn offered to be tied up and gagged on the way back as a show of good faith, which prompted all the goblins to finally come out and board the cart. It wasn't too long before they arrived back in Rook and went back to the goblin, Yezzir, who had hired them. Impressed that they'd brought back so many, Yezzir happily paid them all and thanked them for their skills, mentioning that he'd look for them if another similar job ever came up again, likely in a few months time.
