Faelyn (Dragonus): (CL + 2) * 2
Marcus (Dizzy): (CL + 2) * 1.5
Summary:
Faelyn has found and brought back an emerald gem that was discovered on the body of a dead, possessed necromancer. He calls in Fengari and Marcus to look it over and discovers that it has a personality that emerges, that of a kindly beautiful woman whose race was apparently taken over by the Dark Tapestry when they overran The Aetherlands, which appears to be a plane designed as an exploratory/staging ground plane.
At the same time Mordred was researching a vial of Abyssal Miasma which he had recovered when the Gemarians who were attacking Harashu jumped into a negative energy vortex. They determined that it came from The Abyss and Joy realized they could head to The Great Library to conduct further research. Both groups bump into each other there, but continue their research. They learn a bit about their predicament and head to The Basement to learn more. After getting past the adamantine golem's riddle they find Miere, who has found some interesting spells.
Transcendent Spells:
1. Psychometry - Learn the history of the target item. Requires at least four people, a vial's worth of blood each (1d6 unavoidable, but healable, damage).
2. Targeted Teleport - Activate the Arch to travel to the native location of the target item. Requires at least four people, a vial's worth of blood each (1d6 unavoidable, but healable, damage).
3. Locate Origin - See where the object would be in space and time if it had not been moved or interrupted by one or more of the casters. Requires at least six people, a vial's worth of blood each (1d6 avoidable, but healable, damage).
The group used the spells to determine where the Miasma had come from, entered the plane, and fought a group of the Gemarians and a few Dark Tapestry denizens. Several escaped and a few died. The group also weakened the Void Crystal, reducing it to a size where Miere could safely stow it away in a Demiplane. They also used the Psychometry spell to see where the Void Crystal was born. They saw the ritual taking place in The Aetherlands to give birth to it, along with the chest containing the gemstones (including Salisandra's). The Shadow Man saw them, somehow, and cast them out of the vision with his own spell.
