Description:
Jarrod is clad in a well worn explorers outfit, on his head is a Tricorn hat that any pirate(or ex pirate in this case) would be proud to wear. Tall and muscular, this man has grey eyes with a calculating and intimidating gaze, short jet black hair, a sizable beard, tanned skin, and a fearsome looking scar across his eye giving him a face only a mother could love. Frightening when he needs to be, this ex-pirate magus is really a good soul with a heart of gold.
Back story:
Born to a human farmer and his elven wife, Jarrod Famersson actually had a happy childhood, contrary to the usual life of a half elf, and was raised well by his parents. However in his teens he yearned for something more than a simple farming life and set out for a nearby port in search of adventure. When he arrived he was drawn to an inn/brothel called The Wounded Whale. It was here that his life changed forever, well, in the sense that someone didn't like his face too much (but loved his coin purse) and decided to take a knife to it. After surviving that encounter, he was stranded in the port town, penniless and slightly disfigured. Looking desperately for the adventure he was surely due for, he joined the crew of a ship. The crew on this ship declared themselves entrepreneurs of the seas (pirates). After many years on the ship Jarrod eventually found himself to be the captain, changing his last name to Grim as no self-respecting pirate would be called "Captain Farmersson". He was feared by any who had come into contact with him as a pirate who took no prisoners and had sent many a vessel to its watery grave. In actuality he had killed very little innocent sailors in his piracy career and had let them live on the condition that they spread this story, and seeing as how he was a 6'3 pirate captain with a rather wicked looking blade they agreed to do so. Life was good for Jarrod until about a year ago. His crew was growing restless, they felt Jarrod was too soft but were unwilling to challenge him individually for the ship seeing as he was the best fighter among them and had learned some magic from a previously captive wizard. Instead his crew plotted and carried out a mutiny, Throwing poor Jarrod overboard in the middle of the night.
Jarrod should of perished that night, but through strength, determination, and praying like hell to whatever deity would listen he survived long enough for a ship to pick him up. Realizing who he was, the crew wanted to turn him in for a bounty but the ship’s captain forbade it. This captain had been on a ship that Jarrod had raided, Jarrod had spared his life despite his crew’s urgings. Feeling he owed the pirate, at least a little, the captain ordered his men to give him one of the life boats and some provisions, just as Jarrod had done for him. After days of rowing, Jarrod finally made it to the shore. He was tired and sun burnt, but alive. After wandering around for many months drinking, gambling, and brawling along the along the way, Jarrod decided he had enough of the retired life. But he was not going back to piracy, oh no, Jarrod wanted to become something more than that; he just had to figure out what. After many more weeks of travel Jarrod finally found himself in the massive city of Rook, looking for the kind of jobs no sane man would take. With a sharp blade, a little magic, and a pirate’s cunning "Captain" Jarrod Grim is ready to battle, drink, and cast his way to fortune and fame.
