With a trio of individuals in the Plow, they heard tales of a feckin' massive spider, it was the size of a house right, proper huge. After listening to the trembling man, trembling because of poison since he was actually right hard, yeah, he led them to his place of work to get his employer to employ them to clear out the giant spider(s) in the woods to the southeast since going and logging was somewhat difficult due to being unable to carry the wood back. The logger had been wrapped up for 3 days yeah? That made the job hard right, so it makes sense to hire people dunnit? The employer acquiesced to hiring the adventurers after an urchin was sent to get Primrose from the manor, and the 4 of them set off with the forester. Before they left a few supplies were bought, most notably a series of potions and a cart to actually carry the bodies back on.
Heading out, the quartet with guide camped for the night in a nice bosk, the forester recommending against huge fires as they'd attract attention. As such the group made 5 fires, the central one being much larger. Why not after all. This led to Rainen, during his watch, getting shot from afar and generally being very unhappy. Once everyone woke up they went looking for the individual who generally shot them a lot. Taking the opportunity to shank Primrose when she fell prone was the goblin's undoing, since he was then briefly visible. This meant the meat blender comprised of the party turned him pretty much in to mist, so the rest of the night passed uneventfully.
Heading on in the morning saw the group confronted with a giant spider, literally huge. Deverdon and Fin naturally charged in, both finding out that it's bite was definitely not a friendly greeting, collapsing to the floor with rapidity as the harsh venom took it's toll. The spider was eventually brought down by being very 'misfortunate' and having Rainen slam it with magic a few times. The corpse was duly loaded on the cart as were the now weak combatants, as the forester pointed out the much, much larger spider slowly making it's way towards them. The horse, already terrified, needed no prompting to gallop away from the big spider on the cart behind it.
En route, the party were jumped by another spider and it was similarly 'misfortunate' and brought down almost singly by Rainen. Furthermore, yet another 'misfortunate' spider ambushed them, crushing and killing the horse leading the cart. This one nearly killed Deverdon, as he managed to not only hide excellently under the spider corpse, but then decided to stand up from under it and light a torch, the nutter. Finn kept the spiders down with repeated use of grease, as it turns out a thing with 8 legs is frankly crap at remaining standing, and yet again Primrose and Rainen took the poor thing out. Using copious numbers of floating disks, Rainen and friends made their way back to Rook where the employer, surprised the spiders were real, covered some costs for restorative healing before giving them their pay. Hauling the corpses to Ploatus Hrook, the potentially drug-addled alchemist, saw them collect even further payment thanks to his penchant for odd substances...
