Players / Loot:
Aluin: 500gp
Doran: 250gp
Jhuriel: 500gp
Thraum: 500gp
Jhuriel was approached in the afternoon by a blue robed man who was interested in offering him a job, and told him to meet him at the Golden Plow later in the day. Jhuriel agreed and convened with the man at the Plow.
The man informed Jhuriel that he was an acolyte of Irori (although, judging from his ink-stained hands and sleeves and lack of wear on the rest of his clothing, not a combat-focused one) and that he needed some people to visit an abandoned temple and take down any knowledge they can find there.
In typical Plow fashion, as soon as a job is mentioned various people's ears prick up and they begin forcing themselves into the conversation. Eventually it is decided that Aluin, Doran, Jhuriel and Thraum are going to go to the temple and get sketchings of the carvings and the like.
Eventually they arrive and it's immediately obvious that something is wrong. The walls of the temple look cared for and when they enter a man in loose white linen clothes greets them and tells them it has been awhile since they have visitors.
They are led to a chamber where they watch the acolytes be led in a ritual by a high priest that doesn't come down from a raised place. They then investigate the rest of the temple and find it to be still inhabited. Everything is rather obviously wrong, as the rituals either don't seem to work properly or the information seems twisted.
They headed into the kitchen where they heard a person committed suicide and Doran picked up a knife and tried to slit his own throat, the only reason he was stopped being Aluin who disarmed him of the knife and sent it flying. He woke to his senses but decided to leave as he was confused and lost.
Whilst Aluin talked to various individuals to try and unravel this mystery, Jhuriel and Thraum were deadset on achieving their goal. After being attacked by a pair of bloated demonic creatures (one of whom Thraum literally bisected) they decided to simply charge into the crypt they were told to stay away from.
Narrowly avoiding a falling statue that sent shards of stone flying everywhere, Jhuriel went straight to the crypt door (although Aluin and Thraum were further behind as they were hit by the statue) only to open it and find the crypt beyond filled with undead. Two were ordinary zombies and gave no real challenge, but the last seemed to have some mediocum of intelligence and had a large greatsword.
The greatsword which struck out at Aluin and sent him to his knees with a gaping wound. The other two eventually manage to dispatch the zombie and bring Aluin back to a reasonably facade of life.
They returned to the worshipper of Irori in the temple and gave him all the scribblings that they had taken down. He thanked them profusely and gave them a few small bags filled with money, which they distributed amongst themselves.
