Character Name: Kelon Ermitaño
Appearance:
At first glance, Kelon appears aloof, as though he merely tolerates your presence. He's about average height for an elf, and his blonde hair has a slightly greenish hue. His clothing is rather rough and appears to have been extensively mended, and he carries a longbow on his back. It all combines to give him a slightly wild appearance. Yet his movements are graceful, almost catlike. You get the feeling he might just disappear into thin air as soon as you turn your gaze.
Background:
Kelon originally hails from a small Elf village in the Verdant Realm. The village required all of its members to train in archery, and Kelon was no exception. In fact, he took to it unusually well and quickly became one of the top archers in the village. However, youth combined with skill is not always a good thing - lacking the wisdom that comes from age, he soon grew proud. Confident in his abilities, he often joined the hunting parties (sometimes against their wishes) and would engage in behavior that the others saw as risky.
When he was still just a youth, barely into his 30's, one such hunt resulted in tragedy. Prey was scarce that year, and the hunters had to roam farther than usual to seek their food. At one point during the hunt, Kelon spotted a small bear. Bears were rare in his part of the forest, so ignoring the warnings of his comrades he crept up to get a closer look. Unfortunately, this wasn't like the relatively docile black bears he had encountered before. This was a grizzly bear cub. The cub's mother, whom Kelon had not initially noticed, was none too happy about his intrusion. She reared up, and Kelon, mistaking the warning for a threat, fired a shot. The arrow did little but enrage the bear. Kelon fled back towards his party with the bear hot on his heels. Working together, they managed to take her down, but not before she mauled several of them. What few of them remained standing tried to stabilize the others and transport them back to the village, but two were too badly injured and died on the way.
This debacle was the last straw for the village council. His youthful arrogance had often landed him in trouble, but this time elves had died. He was sentenced to banishment from the village.
For a long time, he was both angry and ashamed, and refused to set foot in any other village. He wandered the Verdant Realm surviving by just his wits and his bow. He learned to respect the balance of nature -- sun and moon, light and shadow, fury and tranquility -- and incorporated those ideas as he honed his skills to their peak.
After many years of wandering, Kelon finally made peace with his past. He didn't much care for the orcs of Tog Nar or the dwarves of the Iron Realm, and being near his own kind tended to bring up bad memories, so he eventually settled down in the forest near Rook. He travels to the city occasionally to trade the bounty of his hunts for what few supplies he cannot obtain from the forest. However, nearly a century of isolation has left him with a lack of the typical social graces, so his visits tend to be brief. He much prefers the wilderness to the noise and bustle of civilization. One of the merchants he regularly trades with nicknamed him "Ermitaño", and the name stuck.

He feels a kind of kinship with them; like himself, many seem to be lost souls destined to a life of wandering and most likely an early death. Recently he has begun spending some time in the Golden Plow whenever he visits the city. He mostly keeps to himself, observing the others and avoiding conversation as much as possible. From time to time he'll even take a look at the job board, although more for the challenge and opportunity to show off than out of any real desire for money.
