Grobbix | Goblin | Sworn Protector Dervish Defender | Lvl 3

Original Description and Character Background:

Though goblins are known for their small size, Grobbix is small even among goblins. At 30" and 25 lbs, Grobbix is well undersized and it makes his oversized head, typical of his race, even more out of place. With his large mouth of teeth, he has a feral look to him, further accentuated by his red eyes, which show an obvious cunning.

Due to his upbringing, Grobbix both acts like a goblin and doesn't at the same time. On one hand, Grobbix is rather social and friendly towards the larger races. However, most find speaking with Grobbix to be confusing and a chore as his grasp of Common as well as his ability to stay on topic are both rather limited. But this doesn't concern him much, as upon finding nobody to speak with, he will revert to talking or singing to plants, rocks, trees, clouds, himself, really anything nearby. On the other hand, like the rest of his race, Grobbix is prone to distraction and often fails to consider the risks and ramifications of his actions. He is always up for doing something new and different, the more exotic or extreme the better. Grobbix also has an unhealthy obsession with magical objects and effects, though Grobbix has no magic of his own.

Grobbix rarely leaves the side of his best friend "Tigger Kitteh". Tigger Kitteh is a large tiger whom Grobbix regular rides and cares for. He raised the cat from a kitten and cares deeply for his well-being. Its debatable if a goblin can actually love, but were one to look for evidence, how Grobbix cares for Tigger Kitteh would be a clear-cut example. But that all said, Tigger Kitteh is far larger and more powerful than Grobbix, and could easily kill and eat the goblin were he so inclined. And though Grobbix considers the tiger his pet, in reality, Grobbix is as much the pet as he is the master.

Background Information:

Grobbix was born to a goblin tribe in the Verdant Realm in a cave system on the edge of the Northern Mountains. As is typical for his race he was placed in the cages with the rest of the young goblins. Though Grobbix was not the strongest, he was quick and cunning and it kept him alive until Solomon came and "rescued" him from what would have otherwise been a typical short-lived goblin existence.

Solomon was an adventurer of no particular renown and a reputation for being a bit off, found himself in the cave while plying his trade. Upon killing the inhabitants -- namely Grobbix's entire tribe and family -- Solomon came upon the youth cages. While putting the young goblins to the sword, Solomon was particularly taken with Grobbix's antics. Rather than kill Grobbix, Solomon took him home as a pet and gave Grobbix his name.

Solomon found great joy and entertainment in teaching Grobbix tricks and was amazed to find that Grobbix was not only quick to pick up new tricks, but also eager to learn and please Solomon. Though Solomon never looked at Grobbix as an equal or with much love, he was always fascinated with Grobbix and how quickly he could learn. Eventually, against better judgement, Solomon taught the young goblin the ways of combat and had Grobbix accompany him on his adventures. Though Grobbix wasn't a particularly effective fighter, he was quick, stealthy, and found a multitude of ways to be helpful to Solomon.

During an adventure, Grobbix and Solomon came across a tiger and her two kittens. Solomon and Grobbix were forced to defend themselves killing the mother. While one of the kittens ran into the undergrowth, the other bravely stood its ground, spitting and growling loudly (or at least as loudly for a kitten). Grobbix was fascinated with the small creature and wanted to keep him. Solomon, remembering how he had come across Grobbix, allowed him to keep the kitten, fully expecting the young kitten to die under the goblin's care. Instead, Grobbix tended to that kitten, now named "Tigger Kitteh", with more care than even its mother could have given it and it grew healthy and happy over the next year or so.

On another of their adventures, Solomon took Grobbix to the Great Library of the Wayward path. As Solomon had been a Walker, he had inevitably written much about Grobbix and his development. This had garnered the attention of another, more senior, member of the Order who wished to meet and see Grobbix for himself. He too found himself amused by Grobbix and joked that the goblin should join the Walkers. Though made in jest, Grobbix was excited with the idea of owning his own copy of the book from which Solomon would regularly tell Grobbix stories. Though the master was reluctant, Grobbix's enthusiasm and the idea of submissions from the perspective of a Goblin eventually swayed the master to allow Grobbix to join the Wayward Path. Grobbix was ecstatic to have his own Travelogue and spent much of his time telling the stories within to Tigger Kitteh and conversing with the other Walkers -- when they rarely had the patience to put up with Grobbix.

But all good things must end and Solomon passed away in his sleep at his home a few weeks ago. Though Grobbix did not have a particularly strong attachment to Solomon, he was saddened by his passing. But not so saddened that he felt guilty when he cooked parts of Solomon in a stew and fed the rest to Tigger Kitteh. Without Solomon to guide him, Grobbix turned to other means to amuse himself. The Walkers in the Travelogue suggested that perhaps Grobbix could find amusement in a life of adventuring and pointed him to the Golden Plow in Rook as a destination. And so Grobbix and Tigger Kitteh took to the road seeking out adventure and fun -- whatever than means to a goblin and a tiger.
