Character Name: Ambrose
Character & Description:
Ambrose was shipwrecked as a small child, and lost his entire family. He was the only survivor. When he washed up on shore, an old man stumbled upon him and took him back to his house where he was revived and given shelter. Upon learning that Ambrose had no more family, the old man decided to raise the child. The old man provided for the child, and taught him his fishing trade. Ambrose learned quickly and enjoyed the open water and streams.
Ten years, to the day that Ambrose was rescued, a terrible storm approached so rapidly that it caught both the old man and Ambrose completely unaware. Their small boat rocked on the water and during one particularly violent wave, Ambrose was swept into the water. The currents pulled him under until he felt his back hit the bottom. It was utterly black, except for a small glimmer that somehow reflected the sun despite the storm overhead and the murky waters. Almost effortlessly, Ambrose swam to the glimmer and grasped it. As quickly as he had been driven downward, the same currents pushed him towards the surface. When he broke the surface of the water, the sun broke through the clouds, and the storm passed. The old man grabbed Ambrose by the arm and hauled him into their small craft. His large smile and happiness was broken when he glimpsed the item held firmly in Abrose's hand. It was a dark blue scabbard, with a similarly coloured handle belonging to what he knew was an ancient katana. Ambrose witnessed the reaction on the man's face and immediately recognized the old man was familiar with the weapon.
The two returned home, and that night the old man told Ambrose of his past. As a samurai upholding honour, justice and his house. He was the most highly skilled samurai and served loyally for many years. When the master of the house fell ill and passed on, his reckless son took over the house. He was a tyrant and ordered the samurai to pillage and loot nearby villages who refused to praise homage to him. It was then the old man turned his back on the samurai order, fleeing to the coast and tossing his sword into the ocean.
"It seems the Empress of Heaven, Shizuru, has guided you to my sword Ambrose," the old man said, "and I will train you to master it. It is up to you, however, to decided how you will use it." Ambrose began training that day, and fell into swordplay as naturally as the sword had come to him.
Years later Ambrose awoke to hear hooves stomping in front of the house. There was a knock on the door, and the old man began walking to open it. Something wasn't right, but before Ambrose could stop him, the old man opened the door. There was a brief glimpse of recognition on his face before a sword appeared through his back, and the stranger said, "It took me forty years old man, but eventually you to have fallen to my blade." The stranger than mounted his horse and road off.

Sitting at a corner table in a local Rook tavern, Ambrose drank slowly from a frothy glass of beer. He had tracked the stranger to Rook, but had now lost all signs of him. He had no name to go on, and no one had seemed to see him in any of the local taverns. It is here Ambrose has decided to await the fates to bring him his next step.
