Kyros was born in a small village outside the city of Rook, and didn't know who his father was for the first 10 years of his life. All his mother would tell him was that he was "a great warrior" who had passed through their village on his way home. But even at that tender of an age, Kyros could tell that he was different. He was taller, fairer, and more athletic than most of the other children his age, and as such never really felt that he belonged. On his 11th birthday, however, his entire life was changed by the arrival on his doorstep of a male elf clad in silver and green. The elf told Kyros that he was his father, and that he had come to bring him back to The Verdant Realm. Kyros didn't believe him at first, and his mother had to persuade him over the course of several days that it would be a good idea for him to go with his father, at least for a year or two, and get to know him. Kyros hated the idea, and didn't want to leave his friends and the place he called home, but in the end he was persuaded. He traveled to The Verdant Lands with his father, and spent the next 15 years there, training and being instructed by the elves. He learned how to swing a sword, and he learned how to shoot a bow, and he was taught the intricacies of nature and animals. He made a few friends during his time with the elves, but he felt even more ostracized there than he had at home. He was the only half-elf there, and though the elves were too polite to openly point this out, they could not help but treat him differently. And all this time Kyros almost never saw his father. He appeared maybe once or twice a year, generally on Kyros's birthday to offer some small gift, but always remained cold and distant (or so it seemed to Kyros, having grown up around humans he was unused to how elves behaved). Every year when Kyros saw him, he would ask if he could go home. Every year his father replied "not yet, you are not ready." Finally, when Kyros was 25 years old, he decided that he had had enough. He was long since an adult by human standards, and he felt that he could make up his own mind. He sought out his father and told him that he was leaving. His father tried to dissuade him but Kyros stood firm. His father eventually agreed, and at their parting gave to him a broach in the shape of a leaf as token that he would be welcomed back to The Verdant Realm if he wished to be. Kyros traveled back to his village, growing more excited by the day to see his mother and his old friends again, and to tell them of his life among the elves. But when he arrived at place where his village had been all he found was a pile of old ruins. An orc pack had come several years ago, and had destroyed the entire town. The neighboring village had heard of what had transpired, and had buried the bodies in the old town cemetery, including Kyros's mother. Kyros stayed by his mother's grave, mourning her passing for several hours. Then he stood and walked away from his old life, leaving the broach his father had given him in the mud beside his mother's headstone.
Kyros is tall and well muscled, with pale skin, black hair, and piercingly green eyes. Despite his elvish blood, he very often has stubble across his cheeks and chin, though he doesn't have a full beard. He generally wears sturdy adventuring gear, even in cities, and at all times wears a dark green cloak with a hood. Kyros is generally quiet and serious, keeping his cool no matter how trying the situation. Yet he is not without humor and will laugh and jest if he feels it appropriate.
