A hunter has found something strange and had been attacked by a mutated bear. Ganderlay believed it to be related to the mist but couldnt afford the time away from his current endeavor. He went to Commander Tardis Bergstein but the Rook military has it's hands full and can't spare the men as they're already pulling units off the border to guard the northern part of the farmstead district from the Goblin incursions. The answers obvious... adventurers! Where to find them? That too is obvious... the Golden Plow!
Knowing a few by name, Ganderlay sent a message with Tardis addressed to Balvos, Dev, Lorek, and Rainen. Two of them were at the Plow and it takes little convincing to interest the others there. The party traveled to the farmstead district, met with the hunter, and after some discussion convinced him to lead them to the site where he was attacked. After a nights rest they began their journey.
After a full days travel the party arrived at the site to find a small hill softly glowing. The ends of stones jutted from the hill as if someone had failed at burying a circle of standing stones. There was little time to observe however for a shape was spotted in the shadows nearby. As the beast came near it was clear that the hunter was not crazy. It was a black bear but had been changed, horribly. It's muscles were inflated, as if swollen from excess blood. Its skin was riddled with cracks and boils, both oozing puss and other nastiness. The beast threatened but stood its ground... Capitalist did not.
With a mighty pounce the Eidolon tore into the bear with every weapon available. The bear roared in pain and from within the hill came a scream of "NNNOOOOOOOO!" Other party members joined the fray but soon an older man, effected in a similar way as the bear, scrambled from the hill and bade the party stop. It took some convincing but in the end the party was not so vicious as to slay the bear.
The man described the place as a place of power and himself as its guardian. It was this place that was responsible for holding back the mist but he had been exposed and felt that if he was lost, so too would be this place.
Sounds to the north alerted the party to a force of mist changed goblins and their dogs and without pause a battle ensued. While the enemies number were great in truth they posed little threat to the now seasoned adventurers other than perhaps the threat of tedium. Soon enough the battle was won.
The day, however, was not over and out of nowhere the bear mauled Finn. The old man, finally having succumbed to the mists influence joined in the attack this time but neither man nor bear could stand the combined assault of the party for more than a handful of seconds.
As he lay dying he sputtered out "Tell.... Ganderlay... all. is. lost."
Suddenly the adventurers became aware of the mist, previously stopped a mile north, a mere quarter mile away and rushing at them with great speed. They quickly mounted and dashed away to the south. All but Finn that is. Finn had other ideas and instead dashed into the hill where he tried to commune with the place of power in his own way.
Turning around as they fled the party saw the mist rise up like a wave and crash over the hill, fully engulfing it, as well as Finn. For now it's advance seemed complete.
Arriving at Silverstone Manor many hours laters the adventures filled in Ganderlay on the events and made their way to do as they would. All but Finn...
